Raspberry Pis are an incredibly affordable SBC (single board computer) designed with tinkering and education in mind. However, recent issues have rendered them nearly impossible to find. So, we’re going to help you find out where to buy the Raspberry Pi 4 and when it could be back in stock.

The Raspberry Pi 4 is the current flagship device, building on the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 Models B and B+. With vastly improved specs and power, alongside a slightly higher price, there’s been huge demand surrounding the mini computer.

Part of the problems with finding stock for the Raspberry Pi 4 spanned from semiconductor supply chain issues following the pandemic. Graphics cards and PS5s saw huge stock issues, while also throttling the prices up to nearly absurd figures. We’re now on the tail end of this supply issue – let’s hope that we can help you find where to buy the Raspberry Pi 4.

Where can you buy the Raspberry Pi 4?

The Raspberry Pi 5 release date is slated by PC Guide as early-to-mid 2023. However, it seems we’re soon passing this date, which means we might not have a newer model’s release to increase the availability of the older model. Generally, in the run up to the release of a new piece of hardware, retailers and manufacturers try and get rid of deadstock. It doesn’t look as though we’re going to be seeing that anytime soon.

The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B has an MSRP between £40 – £85, so seeing models on Amazon flogged for £149 / $155 is not exactly promising.

Stock from UK retailers such as ThePiHut are also heavily depleted, with no Raspberry Pi 4’s available. Similarly, Pimoroni are also without anything to supply.

If you’re in the US, Adafruit, PiShop, Sparkfun and MicroCenter all have no stock.

So, currently, the only place you can pick up a Raspberry Pi 4 in the US and UK is from Amazon. However, these are being price gouged by nearly 200%.

We wouldn’t suggest buying one of these, though if it’s a necessity, these are your options.

When will the Raspberry Pi 4 be back in stock?

The Raspberry Pi 4 is said to be back in stock by 2023, as stated by the CEO Eben Upton.

“We expect supply to recover to pre-pandemic levels in the second quarter of 2023, and to be unlimited in the second half of the year.”

With that in mind, we can expect the Raspberry Pi to return to normal stock levels as we approach the Summer of 2023, which is not far off at all. It does seem though that the Raspberry Pi is going to see a slight price-hike to combat the suffering supply levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there no Raspberry Pi 4 stock?

The pandemic brought a semiconductor shortage to global supply chains, and alongside the increased demand for tinkering tools, the Raspberry Pi 4 suffered greatly.

Is it worth buying the Raspberry Pi 4 now?

It’s not worth buying the RPI4 at current gouged prices, so it could be worth waiting for the release of the Raspberry Pi 5, if it’s even coming.
