It’s worth asking if the Sony A95K 8K if you’re keen on the highest possible resolution.

The Sony A95K is a popular TV released in 2022. It’s one of the best QD-OLED TVs you can buy right now, and features on our best TVs for PS5 and Xbox Series X. But does it support 8K?

An 8K TV is a screen with 7,680 horizontal and 4,320 vertical pixels, making it the highest resolution possible for a TV. It boasts four times more pixels than a 4K TV, resulting in a more sophisticated and realistic image representation. In other words, there’s a significant difference between 4K and 8K resolution.

In answer to your question, the short answer is no, the Sony A95K does not have an 8K display. Instead, it dazzles in 4K with incredibly high contrast colors and a vibrant display. Though some may be disappointed the Sony A95K does not support the best possible resolution, there’s a host of reasons why 4K might be for the best.

If you do have your heart set on an 8K TV, Sony will still have something for you. The 75″ Bravia Z9K and Z9J are both 8K TVs, but they do come at a premium price. The A95K definitely looks like the better deal for now with $700 off over on Amazon at the time of writing.

So, is it a problem that the Sony A95K does not support 8K? No, not really. Though more content is transitioning to 8K in 2023, the technology is still in its infancy, meaning most of the content you’d be watching on your 8K TV would not be ‘native’ but upscaled using AI technology. The Sony A95K’s 4K resolution, combined with its high refresh rate and HDMI 2.1 support makes it amongst the best TVs for gaming.

The Sony A95K is also only available in 55-inch and 65-inch, which is actually slightly small to get the most out of 8K resolution. It’s likely that you wouldn’t notice a difference worth the while of it having 8K resolution.

So, hopefully, you won’t find the Sony A95K’s lack of 8K too disappointing. 2023 has already seen plenty of leaps in the world of TVs with the upcoming release of the LG C3 and LG M3, so there is plenty to be excited about. Since the Sony A95K was released in 2022, we’ve also started speculating whether the Sony A95K will drop in price. Time will tell!
