If you’re wondering if the LG C2 is worth it – we’ve covered all of the relevant information in this deep-dive into one of the best OLED TVs on the market.

The LG C2 was released in 2022, and has since taken the world by storm. Considered one of the best TVs for gaming, the C2 was released as the successor to the LG C1. However, since LG’s presentation at CES 2023, we’re now expecting the LG C3 release date at some point this year. With this news in mind, comparisons are likely to be drawn between the LG C2 and LG C3. Though, before that, we’re going to need to determine if the LG C2 is worth it.

LG C2 specs and features

Viewing angles (H/V) 178 / 178 | Brightness: 200 cd/m2 | Refresh Rate: 40 Hz – 120 Hz | sRGB: 97% | Panel type: OLED | Model Year: 2022 | Speakers: 2 x 10w

The LG C2 isn’t a TV that can be defined by its specs, though the key ones to note are the refresh rate range between 40Hz and 120Hz and the wide viewing angles. The 4K resolution has the best brought out of it by the stunning OLED panel which proves itself as bright enough.

The LG C2 runs webOS, though the inclusion of Android TV instead would allow the TV to run many more applications. That being said, the webOS UI is fantastically designed and navigating through the menus is an experience in itself.

The LG C2 has fantastic motion handling, making it great if you’re planning to play games with high frame-rates and lots of movement. This also helps if you’re planning to use your TV as an entertainment hub as sports often loses quality on cheap TVs that can’t handle motion smoothly.

If you’re a gamer, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) works to sync display refresh rate with output frame rates, removing unwanted artefacts and preventing screen-tearing. You will need HDMI 2.1 if you’re planning to make use of VRR on your LG C2 with a next-generation console such as the PS5 or Xbox Series X.

ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) also looks to improve the gaming experience by automatically detecting when a console or PC is connected, and ensuring that input lag is kept to a minimum. This is especially important for competitive gamers who might be playing FPS games that demand fast-reactions and equally quick response times.

If you’re looking to use the TV for intensive graphical work or image exhibiting – the LG C2 is 12-bit when being used at 1080p, though you can’t use HDMI 2.1 for this.

Is the LG C2 worth it in 2023?

The LG C2 is an expensive TV – with the MSRP of the 65-inch version costing $2,499. This is hefty price for a TV – but the TV often sees great deals posted online.

Although it was released in 2022, there’s little to suggest that the TV has aged poorly. It consistently announces itself as one of the best TVs out there – with WePC’s LG C2 review nailing it with a 4.5 / 5 Star review.

If we’re comparing the TV with other OLED’s available – comparisons could be drawn up against the Samsung S95B or Sony A95K. While the LG C2 and A95K are both OLEDs, the S95B is an QD-OLED in the same price range. All of these TVs feature heavily in our best TV for PS5 guide, proving just how good they are.

Considering all, the LG C2 is still a TV that shines in 2023 and is entirely worth it.
