Now that it’s released, we’re wondering – is the Samsung S95C worth it?
The Samsung S95C was released February 22nd 2023. It features Samsung’s highly coveted QD-OLED panels that create an incredibly vivid display plus an impressive peak brightness. However, as the follow-up to Samsung’s well-regarded S95B that features in our top picks for the best gaming TVs , PS5 and Xbox Series X, the S95C will have to streak ahead in performance for it to be worth it.
To weigh up whether the S95C is worth it, we’ll break down all the specs and new features to help you out.

As you can see from the specs, Samsung isn’t messing around with this TV.
Features to pay particular attention to is its QD-OLED display which provides near-limitless contrast with over 8 million pixels each self-illuminating to create the display. Though you’ll be paying a premium price for a QD-OLED display, the S95C has the advantage of maintaining saturated colors regardless of where your viewing content from.
We also think the S95C makes strides when it comes to brightness levels. The S95C’s peak brightness level is between 20-30% brighter than its predecessor. This provides a noticeable difference when viewing in HDR, and also makes it worth it if you’re planning to watch TV in a bright room, thanks to its fantastic reflection handling.
It supports AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro which makes it the first OLED TV on the market to offer that level of VRR support. It also boasts 4K streaming for the cloud gaming service Nvidia GeForce Now, alongside support for Xbox cloud gaming, Amazon Luna and Utomik.
Though we’re seriously impressed by its ultra high 144Hz refresh rate, it won’t translate to a massive difference in your gameplay if you’re already using a 120Hz display. What’s more, if you’re gaming on PS5 or Xbox Series X, then your refresh rate is capped at 120Hz, so the S95C’s 144Hz will probably be wasted.
Overall, if you’re in the market for a high-end gaming TV, the S95C has little to hold it back. The only drawback is the price tag, which we’ll discuss below.
Is Samsung S95C worth the price?
As you’ve probably seen, the Samsung S95C is a hefty investment. It carries a premium price tag of $4,449, meaning it may be out of reach for many consumers. If you’re looking for a basic TV or monitor, the S95C is probably a step too far.
If you’re a fan of Samsung’s lineup but don’t want to stomach the premium price of the S95C, your best bet is the S95B.
The S95C has one of the brightest QD-OLED panels available, with a nit count of 2000.
Is the S95C good for gaming?
With an excellent peak brightness, high refresh rate and wide screen, the S95C is ideal for gaming. Especially in immersive games that can benefit from its beautiful display.
