Starfield has quickly become the most anticipated game of 2023. Developed by Bethesda studios, Starfield is an action role-play game. The game features an open world where there are fictional and non-fictional planetary systems. For those unfamiliar with ultrawide monitors, they enhance the screen by extending it from a traditional monitor ratio of 16:9 to a 21:9 aspect ratio. With some games, users will find an ultrawide monitor will not be supported and it will result in either a black border or the game stretched out. Therefore, it’s always important to check first whether games support an ultrawide monitor.

Starfield finally has a release date, 6th September 2023. The creation engine typically doesn’t like ultrawide but with Starfield, there is expectation that this will be different. If you are on PC, games likes Skyrim and Fallout 4 support ultrawide with a simple .ini edit or by downloading the mod. Seeing as it is a newer game, users on Reddit are suggesting Starfield will likely support ultrawide monitors. If not through the games setup, ultrawide should be accessible through the .ini method.

Essentially, Starfield supporting wide screen monitors is unclear. Bethesda themselves released a clip of a user playing Starfield on an ultrawide monitor that was not supporting it, with black borders on the side. There is, however, heavy contestation that Starfield will support ultrawide as it is 2023 and a lot of people will be playing with a wider screen.
