The MediEvil remake was first announced at PSX in 2017, and although MediEvil’s original creators were a little surprised by the news, they had high hopes for the next iteration of Sir Daniel Fortesque’s adventure. Other Ocean Interactive is at the helm of the new game, and credited their positive relationship with former SCE Cambridge Studio developers as the secret sauce to the reboot. ‘Instead of going back and recreating that perfectly, we want to recreate what you remember about that game and what you took away from that game,’ Other Ocean Interactive COO Mike Mika explained.
The game is more like an ‘archaeological project’ in which the team are ‘walking in the shoes of the original creators’, than a totally unique version of MediEvil. And now that work is complete, Other Ocean will be sending it off to be turned into a physical edition, so that fans are one step closer to resurrecting their long-buried memories of the classic game.
MediEvil will launch on PlayStation 4 on October 25.
