As the countdown towards the launch of Starfield steadily ticks down, fans of the open space adventure continue to scour every inch of the previews that have been released so far in an effort to satisfy their mounting curiosity about Bethesda’s massive futuristic RPG. But this time, instead of focusing on the planets and the people within them, it seems that some players have now discovered an important and slightly concerning tidbit about the game’s economy.

According to a Reddit post created by Mr_Twiddles, it seems that Starfield’s patty melt – a mouth-watering cross between a grilled cheese sandwich and a cheeseburger – can be sold for a whopping 295 credits. Now, its selling price alone is enough to make a few jaws drop. But it becomes even more absurd as the post creator pointed out that selling 64 patty melts would be enough to get you a respectable vehicle since many of the spaceships that were shown during the Starfield Direct were only priced between 13,000-47,000 credits.

With this in mind, hoarding and subsequently reselling these patty melts may be one of the most lucrative ways to quickly earn Starfield credits. However, Str-Dim did end up pointing out that the community doesn’t “know enough about the supply or demand for patty melts in the 24th century” to be making these comments as the Starfield release date hasn’t graced the gaming community with its presence just yet.

On the other hand, some Starfield fans apparently weren’t shocked with these outrageous patty melt prices as EllySwelly said: “Food has been crazy overpriced in pretty much every [Bethesda Softworks] game so I can’t say it surprises me.” After all, Fallout: New Vegas did have a similarly overpriced food item available in the Wasteland Omelet so these types of costs may just be par for the course at this point.
