Modern Warfare 3 developer Sledgehammer Games and Activision have now given the people what they want as the latest reveal trailer showed exactly when the player base can expect the next series installment to drop. But with the past couple of entries having largely been underwhelming, it appears some within the community remain wary of preordering the upcoming game as the disappointing, bug-filled launch of MW2 continues to run fresh in peoples’ minds.

Even though the Modern Warfare 3 release date is still more than a few months off, the expansion-turned-standalone installment is already dividing the player base ahead of time. Of course, most hardcore FPS fans are more than likely going to be purchasing the next game with all its fancy bells and whistles beforehand. But, as always, a portion of the disgruntled player base are already warning others not to do so as evidenced by one particularly early Reddit post.

Over on the recently created Modern Warfare 3 subreddit, a thread created by longtimeskulker445 simply said: “Remember, no preorders [because] MW3 will be [a] bigger mess at launch than MW2.” “But this post will be in vain because the game will [sell] millions of copies and this subreddit will be full of posts at launch about bugs and broken features,” they continued. “And [the] small minority [will say] we told you so.”

Some, however, are seemingly tired of this same argument being used during every new release cycle as the_blue_flounder noted: “I hate this shit so much. It happens with every game ever. With CoD you know what you’re gonna get. And it’s never been a Cyberpunk level shitshow either.” One refreshingly optimistic user, on the other hand, pointed out that Modern Warfare 3 developer Sledgehammer Games is completely different from Infinity Ward as the former “actually listens to community feedback.”

With this in mind, Sledgehammer Games’ track record indicates that the upcoming installment should be a much smoother and more enjoyable experience for those willing to get stuck in once it gets released. But with the launch date still far off, you’ll just have to remain patient for now in order to find out whether the next series entry will live up to the hype.

In other news, the Modern Warfare 3 slide cancel mechanic may be returning and Modern Warfare 2 anti-cheat’s latest name-and-shame feature has players divided, although MW3 pre orders have yet to begin.
