The popular card-based game Magic: The Gathering has announced collaborations with Assassin’s Creed, Fallout and Final Fantasy. Wizards of the Coast announced that the expansion sets are due to be released during the course of 2024 and beyond with the first expansion launch in Q1 2024.
Taking to Twitter, Wizards of the Coast noted the full timeline of these releases with Ravnica Remastered, Murders at Karlov Manor and Fallout expansions to arrive in Q1 2024. Outlaws of Thunder Junction and Modern Horizons 3 are set to launch in Q2 2024. Finally, Assassin’s Creed, Bloomburrow and Duskmourn: House of Horror are set to be made available during Q3 2024.
Continuing past this initial spell of releases, Wizards of the Coast also announced that an expansion set based on the Final Fantasy series would be released after this initial 2024 lot. Taking to Twitter, the official Magic: The Gathering account tweeted, “Now is the time to shape your stories. Your fate is in your hands. #MTGxFinalFantasy will be the next Universes Beyond tentpole release! Encompassing the first game all the way up to Final Fantasy XVI! And it will be on @MTG_Arena!”
However, these announcements weren’t the only major news to come from Wizards of the Coast’s Magic at 30 live stream. Head designer for Magic: The Gathering, Mark Rosewater, announced the series would be revisiting Lorwyn/Shadowmoor in the future.
Alongside this, Wizards of the Coast also spoke on another Magic: The Gathering collaboration, Jurassic World. The upcoming set entitled ‘Lost Caverns of Ixalan will include ‘mechanically unique cards available in Set & Collector boosters.” The set is set to condense “30 years of Jurrasic World films.” However, Wizards of the Coast did not provide any new art or information on what characters players could expect via this pack.
