Is Destiny 2 Down? 

All online games have connection issues from time to time and Destiny 2 is no different. Destiny 2 is one of the largest online shooters on the planet right now, especially since it went free to play in 2019. Since then the game has only continued to grow in size and popularity.

Destiny 2 has just launched its latest major expansion, Lightfall. Guardians new and old are now setting foot on Neomuna, the bright, cyberpunk world that Lightfall is set.

As an online game, a constant question is whether the game is currently playable, or if it’s been taken temporarily offline for maintainence. So, Is Destiny 2 down currently?

Is Destiny 2 Down? 

We’re just about 24 hours removed from the launch of Lightfall, and we’re pleased to report that currently Destiny 2 is up.

The Destiny Support Twitter has reported a few minor teething issues such as a crash when viewing commendations – but by and large the servers appear to be operating normally.

We will of course keep our eye on the situation and update this page should anything change.

What time does Destiny 2 go down for Lightfall?

Destiny 2 will be down from 8am PST – that’s 5pm UK time or 11am Eastern Standard time – on Monday, February 27, 2023 – when servers will be closed to new sign-ons.

Those already signed into the game at that period will get 45 minutes of grace time to finish up what they’re doing, but will be booted from the game by 8:45am PST/11:45am EST/5:45pm UK time.

The maintenance will last for 24 hours, with the servers not expected to be back online until 9am PST – that’s 12pm EST or 6pm UK time – on Tuesday, February 28 2023. That’s when Update 7.0.0.1 will be available for all platforms.

The server status page has pointed towards this maintenance and there has been no change since, further solidifying that the game is currently still in maintenance stage prior to Lightfall releasing

However, there may still be some teething issues as the servers are brought back online, so officially maintenance will continue for about another hour – with the servers expected to be fully back online by 10am PST – that’s 1pm EST or 7pm UK time.

Anyone still having issues getting back into the game at this point are advised to check the official Destiny 2 Help Forum for more information.

Hopefully though, it won’t be too long before servers are back online.

Destiny 2 will look to launch back around 7PM GMT, this is also 10AM PST (Los Angeles) or 1PM EST (New York).
