It looks like we’re getting a sequel to 2021 model car racer Hot Wheels Unleashed, after a logo was spotted on one of the real-world toy cars.
While no sequel has yet been announced by developer Milestone, earlier this week the image of a die-cast version of one of the game’s hero cars – said to be coming to Gamestop – was shared online on Instagram, where a blurry logo could be made out with a 2 on it.
Now, as reported by GT Planet, a die-cast enthusiast by the name of Ajib Nobi has posted a much closer look at the model on their Instagram, confirming that the logo on the back of the Twin Mill model reads Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged.
There’s very little other information at this point of course, but a sequel would make a ton of sense. Just over a week ago, Milestone and Mattel made a point to celebrate the first game’s status as “the most successful title in Milestone history” after selling more than 2 million copies worldwide, and having more than 8 million players registered on Hot Wheels Unleashed.
The first game saw players choose from a whole heap of cars from Hot Wheels past and present, as well as plenty of vehicles based on popular series like Barbie, Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Winning races meant getting to unlock more cars and adding them to your collection. The game also saw a number of expansions, including ones based on Monster Trucks and Looney Toons.
There was also plenty of customisation options in the first game – as well as the ability to create and share your own liveries, players could also create and share their own custom tracks to race on – with over 350,000 original tracks said to have been created in the previous game’s lifespan so far.
Any presumed sequel will surely be looking to expand on all those features – and more besides. If we hear any official word on a sequel, we’ll keep you in the loop.
