Joseph Staten, one of the former writers of the series, has been brought on board for the development of Halo Infinite.
I'm thrilled to join @Halo to help them ship Halo Infinite. As the project lead for the Infinite Campaign, I will be supporting the team's existing, great leaders and empowering them to do their best work. https://t.co/pQiNPQVBZs

He’s a key figure for the franchise, and given that the progression of Halo Infinite has been rocky with departures and delays, his arrival is good news. In the past, Staten was director of cinematics at Bungie, and wrote the mission scripts and cutscene dialogue in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach. He even voiced Halo 3: ODST’s Superintendent and the Covenant’s Grunt enemies and in Halo 5: Guardians. Lastly, he also authored Halo: Shadow of Intent, a short story in the Halo anthology, Halo: Fractures.
Sources speaking to Windows Central stated that Staten’s assistance with Halo Infinite is intended to “provide more expertise” to the team. Presently, 343 Industries is cutting down the swathes of “fake leaks” cropping up about the game, such as the removal of the Xbox One version and the release window pushed to 2022. “We’re building Halo Infinite to be the best it can be on each device/platform,” affirmed community manager John Junyszek.
Halo Infinite is coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC in 2021.
