Players of battle royale shooter Fortnite are turning their thoughts as to what could be the game’s next big crossover following the success of the recent Futurama drop.
Over on the official Fortnite subreddit, a thread entitled “What Fortnite colab that hasn’t been done yet would be an instant purchase for you?’ has had a ton of responses already, and as well as ones that have recently been brought up such as The Simpsons and Jurassic Park, there’s a number of interesting options should Epic be short of ideas on which universe to bring to the game next. First off is Impossible_Ad_434 who proposes “Breaking Bad. I would purchase literally everything in that bundle” and we’ve got to admit, while a more mature series does seem like something that’s not entirely in Fortnite’s wheelhouse, it’d be cool to run around Slappy Shores as Walter White.
Poorkay has a more family friendly suggestion “Ninja Turtles are high on my list,” and notes “I could def see them doing something with the movie coming out soon.” to which JarJarBanksy420 agrees “TMNT would drain my wallet” while Nate290 is “Still surprised they didn’t happen yet.” A more unlikely suggestion comes from GreatQuestionDK who offers up “Pokemon – I want to crank 90s as Mewtwo.” Alas, this one is perhaps the most unlikely given we’re doubtful the people behind one of the most successful franchises would want to see their monsters in a world of guns, but stranger things have happened.
There’s also a number of suggestions for other video games that have yet to crossover into the battle royale’s universe. “Final Fantasy VII. More props to Epic if they actually make a shirtless Sephiroth variant,” says SkullMan140. VergenceTheBoi takes it further, wanting to incorporate a few titles from the long running RPG series. “Holy shit if they did FF I would be over the moon. Could do FFVII Rebirth COLLAB (Cloud, Tifa, Sephiroth, Aerith (usually they do 3 or 4 most popular). I would kill for FFXVI characters, or maybe a customizable Warrior of Light to rep FFXIV”
So far, Fortnite’s Futurama crossover has gone down pretty well with fans, although by far and away the most popular character in this event has been Bender. However, some players aren’t content to wait for Epic to announce future updates and have been making their own stuff, including this Barbenheimer inspired map, and a concept for a potential Rebirth season.
