Epic Games has announced a date for the Finale of Fortnite Chapter 3, which will be marked with a major world event known as Fracture.

The news came as something of a surprise to fans, after it was announced at the end of the Fortnite Champion Series – and dated for as soon as next month.

The move comes as something of a surprise to most fans – as it’ll make Chapter 3 the shortest Chapter yet.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Finale – Fracture event date and time

Fortnite’s Chapter 3 Finale event, named Fracture, will take place on December 3, 2022 and kick off from 4pm ET – that’s 9pm UK time.

Previous Chapters in Fortnite have typically ran for a lot longer – with Chapter 1 lasting 10 seasons across 2 years, and Chapter 2 with a similar two year lifespan across 8 seasons.

Chapter 3, however, only kicked off in December last year. This means that it’s only been one year and four seasons, with the currently ongoing Season 4 Paradise launching this past September.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Finale – what to expect

It’s not clear yet what we can expect to see during the Fracture event or how long it’ll last. However, it’s sure to be a fairly big deal.

Previous Chapter Finales have seen the entire game world sucked into a Black Hole, before revealing a brand new map as Chapter 2 kicked off.

The Chapter 2 finale meanwhile, then saw the island location flipped to reveal another new map underneath as Chapter 3 started; which also introduced No Build Mode for the first time.

It’s probably a safe bet then, to assume there’ll probably be a brand new map for the Battle Royale, and potentially some gameplay overhauls and potentially much more.

It’s also expected that Fortnite Chapter 4 will include new creative tools – with Fortnite getting its own version of the Unreal Editor originally pencilled in for later this year.

However, Epic’s Tim Sweeny has responded to a query on this, saying that the feature has been delayed into late January 2023.

We’ll update with more on Fortnite Chapter 3’s finale as we learn of it, and anything we hear on Fortnite Chapter 4.
