Andre Onana is set to become Manchester United’s new number one, and this will likely mean a massive boost to his FC 24 ratings. Joining a club like Man Utd usually means players receive an upgrade, and Onana could be the go-to GK early in the new game.
As the EA Sports FC 24 release date looms into view, the FC 24 ratings will be a major talking point for fans. Onana is unlikely to trouble Ederson and Alisson as the top goalkeeper in the Premier League, but he could certainly be in the mix for a spot in the top five.
The 27-year-old Cameroon international will join United after just one season at Inter Milan. Onana’s 82 overall is not the highest it’s been in FIFA, but it is certainly not the lowest. We have documented Onan’s rise to the top of the game from his humble beginnings back in FIFA 16.
FIFA 16 – 68 overall
As a 19-year-old goalkeeper, Onana failed to make a first team appearance for Ajax. His 68 overall showed promise though, and he was certainly one to watch out for in Career Mode with a 79 potential.
FIFA 17 – 69 overall
This was Onana’s breakthrough season. Onana began FIFA 17 with a 69 overall, but through updates throughout the season ended with a 77 overall! The increase of +8 was just reward for keeping 15 clean sheets in the Eredivisie.
FIFA 18 – 78 overall
Quite the leap from FIFA 17. Onana began and ended FIFA 18 with a rating of 78. Still a youngster, Onana’s 85 potential in Career Mode showed how highly he was rated. Onana could not improve in his 15 clean sheets from the season before though, and Ajax finished second again.
FIFA 19 – 78 overall
The 2018/19 season was another good one for Onana. He kept 16 clean sheets in the league as Ajax won the title, and also helped his side reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. This saw his rating rise from 78 to 82 overall throughout the course of the season.
FIFA 20 – 82 overall
By FIFA 20 Onana has established his credentials as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers. Another strong season despite the COVID-curtailment saw another upgrade for the Cameroonian. Ending FIFA 20 with an 85 overall, Onana also featured in Ultimate Team’s Team of the Year event.
FIFA 21 – 84 overall
An 84 overall made Onana one of the best players in the Dutch league in FIFA 21. Sadly, the season was not plain sailing for Onana as he was hit with a doping ban in January, forcing him to miss nine months of action.
FIFA 22 – 82 overall
As the doping ban crossed into the next season, Onana was excluded from Ultimate Team in FIFA 22. He managed just six appearances in the league in the 2021/22 season, failing to keep a clean sheet in any of them. Onana was then sold to Inter Milan in the summer of 2022.
FIFA 23 – 82 overall
Initially, Onana was not the first choice in Milan. Eventually breaking into the team, Onana made 41 appearances across all competitions, including every match in Inter’s run to the Champions League final. 19 clean sheets in all competitions was enough to secure Onana a lucrative move to Manchester United.
FC 24 – 84 overall (predicted)
A big move to the Premier League is likely to see Onana’s rating rise ahead of FC 24. We are anticipating a return to 84 overall for Onana, ranking him behind Ederson, Alisson, and Emiliano Martinez.
The fiasco surrounding David De Gea’s departure could place added pressure on Onana. United’s longest serving player has been unceremoniously dumped from the squad. However, Onana is more comfortable on the ball and Erik ten Hag sees him as a better fit for his style of play.
As a major summer transfer, Onana could also feature in the FC 24 OTW event. EA’s classic Ones to Watch event highlights some of the biggest transfers of the summer, offering live upgrades based on real-life performance. At just 27 years old, Onana will also be a decent option in FC 24 Career Mode, although you won’t be able to sign him straight away following his recent switch.
