We’re in reveal season for EA’s upcoming football game, and over the coming weeks, we will be getting various trailers and deep dives, letting us know what to expect from the title now that the FIFA shackles are off. All of these will increase the hype for the new title as we approach the EA Sports FC 24 release date!
Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Clubs (formerly Pro Clubs) will all feature once again, with more details coming for them after the initial gameplay trailer was unveiled on July 13. Erling Haaland has been shown off as the cover star for FC 24, the sole player on the Standard Edition cover, and included centrally on the Ultimate Edition. However, that’s not the only way he is being celebrated!
The Norwegian is already seen as one of the best players in the world, scoring goals at a truly staggering rate, and at just 22 years old, he is the future of the sport too. Switching from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City last summer, he spent his first season in sky blue finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer with 36 goals (a league-breaking record), getting the European Golden Shoe for scoring the most goals in all of Europe, and winning the treble of the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup!
It was an unprecedented debut season for the City man, so it was no surprise to see him revealed as the EA Sports FC 24 cover star. He is ready to take on the world, not just metaphorically, but physically according to EA’s latest ‘Haa-Land’ trailer!
In a tourism-like commercial produced to create hype for EA Sports FC 24, his native Norway is shown off in all its glory, with picturesque fjords, dancing northern lights, the majestic Pulpit Rock, and the beautiful archipelago of Henningsvaer. Yet, something has changed about the landscape…
National treasure Erling Haaland has made his mark on the footballing world, and now he is making his mark across Norward, with ‘Haa-landscapes’ appearing all over the newly renamed ‘Haa-land’!
Seeing the Terminator appear in the northern lights and the fjord is reminiscent of a Disney film, and we couldn’t help but think about The Lord of the Rings when seeing his face calved into the Pulpit Rock. Despite being at the start of his career, Haaland has already written himself into the history books, and he will no doubt continue breaking records to become a legend of the game.
As always, the fans were quick to comment on the trailer, with some praising it, such as iggy saying “I love it. EA Sports FC has an awesome PR team. This is magnifique!” However, not all were so kind, with Divanshu suggesting “[If only] you guys put this much effort in the actual gameplay”. There was even the unfortunate comment from HappyNewYear that won’t be lived down in a hurry of “chat is this real ?”. No, HappyNewYear, no it is not real…
Whatever the response, the trailer has fulfilled its purpose by getting fans to talk about the upcoming EA Sports FC 24. If EA has put this much effort into a 30-second hype trailer, we can only hope that FC 24 will also have received the same treatment and become a game to be remembered!
