Promised as a return to the series’ roots, Assassin’s Creed fans are patiently waiting for the full release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage later this year. While the recent release of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Basim trailer has given fans much more to talk about in the leadup to release some fans are looking to past series entries like Assassin’s Creed Unity to see what the upcoming game can draw inspiration from.

Gaming YouTube content creator XENEUS posted a short compilation video to YouTube of Assassin’s Creed Unity with the title, “This game still has the best parkour.” Many fans seemed to agree as well with one player bewildered as to why Ubisoft abandoned the parkour mechanics of Unity in future games. They said, “I just can’t understand how Ubisoft found peak parkour mechanics and just decided not to use it for future games. Heck even if the story were mediocre, I think the recent games would still be good with these parkour movements…”

Unity certainly had its fair share of issues on launch and even still to this day, but the parkour and traversal mechanics are still widely considered by many fans as the game’s key draw. While Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to harken back to older entries in the series, it’d be great to see a return of this expertly crafted parkour system. However, the parkour isn’t the only thing players are talking about in relation to Assassin’s Creed Mirage. One fan was particularly excited to see that the game wouldn’t contain any EXP-based progression as opposed to newer entries in the series.

Alongside this, they said, “I love that they’re bringing back the costume dyes, as well. Can’t wait to see the different outfits I can mess around with, even if I truthfully only see myself using the ‘canonical’ outfit, as I have with every other AC game.” It certainly seems like Mirage is hitting all the right notes for fans at the moment. Whether it’ll stick the landing on launch is another question that can only be answered when the game fully releases in October.

In recent Mirage-related news, Assassin’s Creed Mirage unveils History of Baghdad mode and Assassin’s Creed Mirage latest gameplay looks exactly like a 4K AC1 remaster.
