Update: Developer Aspyr has now released a fix for the game-breaking bug in the Switch port of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

According to the studio, the new patch “addresses our top player-reported issues.”

Original Story:

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords has a game-breaking bug on Switch, and developer Aspyr has issued a workaround.

The game made its way onto Switch earlier this month, and it features a crash that occurs after a specific cutscene. This crash then blocks any further progression.

Now, Aspyr has said that it is working on a fix for the bug. Until then, however, the developer has offered another solution:

“For now, our suggested workaround is to warp past the point where the game crashes using the cheats menu. To do so, triple click the left thumbstick, open the cheats menu, select warp, and warp to OND504. Make sure not to head to the merchant quarter, as your game will crash.”

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is a celebrated sequel, developed by Obsidian Entertainment. (BioWare made the first game.) It came out in 2005, on the Xbox and PC, and it wasn’t exactly bug-free back then.

This from VideoGamer’s review:

“Regrettably, the multitude of technical issues and the sheer anti-climax of the conclusion almost completely ruin any satisfaction you’ll take from the game. Had it not been for the short development cycle, and the imposition of an ending that feels like a creative cop-out (clearly intended to set things up for a sequel), this should have been one of the finest RPGs ever made.”
