What is Terastal Phenomenon?

The Terastal Phenomenon changes the Tera Type of your Pokemon from its regular type. It does two things: first, a Jewel appears over the Pokemon’s head, representing the Tera Type you Terastallized that Pokemon to, whilst the Pokemon’s body starts to shine and glimmer. Secondly, it grants the Terastallized Pokemon a new set of abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.

It is a robust mechanic that enhances the power of your Pokemon to help with more brutal battles. You can Terastallize every single Pokemon found within the Paldea region, but remember you can do it only once per battle. This transformation lasts as long as the battle continues, making your Pokemon devolve to its original type after the battle.

How To Terastallize a Pokemon?

Now that you know the Terastal Phenomenon, let’s see how you can actually Terastallize your Pokemon.

In order to Terastallize your Pokemon, you need a Tera Orb. Bear in mind that once you have consumed the Tera Orb to change the Tera Type of your Pokemon in the battle, the Orb loses its energy. This means that you can’t use Terastal Phenomenon again until you recharge the Tera Orb.

Fortunately, a Tera Orb can be recharged at the Pokemon Center or Crystals brimming with Tera Energy that are scattered through the Paldea region.

Remember that Terastal Phenomenon is a highly specialized mechanic and only selected Trainers in the Paldea region are allowed to carry a Tera Orb. How and when you get access to a Tera Orb in your game is still unknown.

What Are The Different Tera Types?

Each Pokemon has a hidden Tera Type that’s not revealed until you actually use the Tera Orb to Terastallize it. Therefore, you can keep your Pokemon’s secret talents, abilities, and powers concealed from the opponents. Once you Terastallize the Pokemon, the power of all those moves that match your Pokemon’s Tera Type is amplified exponentially.

Currently, there are 18 Tera Types known in the Paldea region, however, the developers may add new ones in future updates. All 18 Tera Types in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are listed below:
