Starfield star systems

Starfield has over a hundred star systems. Alpha Centauri, the system closest to our Sol system, was shown off at Bethesda and Xbox’s Starfield Direct showcase. Cheyenne and Volii are important destinations too, with planets and cities worth exploring.

Here’s a list of all known Starfield star systems so far:

  • Alchiba
  • Alpha Andrasie
  • Alpha Centauri
  • Aranae
  • Arcturus
  • Cassiopeia
  • Charybdis
  • Cheyenne
  • Kryx
  • Linnaeus
  • Lunara
  • Narion
  • Nirah
  • Porima
  • Procyon A
  • Sagan
  • Sol
  • Tau Ceti
  • Volii

Starfield star systems explained

Alchiba

The Alchiba star system in Starfield is home to planets Alchiba IV-A, Alchiba VII-B, and Alchiba X-B. The Starfield Direct showed off outpost construction at Alchiba IV-A and combat against Ecliptic Specialists in Alchiba VII-B. That’s all we know about this star system for now.

Alpha Andrasie

The Alpha Andrasie star system in Starfield features planets Alpha Andrasie II and III. The latter hosts an abandoned robotics facility.

Alpha Centauri

With four planets and eight moons, the Alpha Centauri system is one of the major star systems in Starfield. Planets Olivas, Chawla, Jemison, and Gagarin are important in their own ways. Chawla is described by Bethesda as a ‘barren but resource-heavy ice ball‘ while Olivas is a gas giant. As for Jemison and Gagarin, they’re even more significant. Jemison hosts New Atlantis, the capital city of the United Colonies and also has Constellation forces stationed there. Gagarin was called a ‘Goldilocks planet’ by game director Todd Howard.

Aranae

The Aranae star system in Starfield houses Aranae I. It’s a few light years away from Alpha Centauri.

Arcturus

Little is known about Starfield’s Arcturus system. It houses Arcturus III, an ice giant with massive blue rings.

Cassiopeia

Cassiopeia has two confirmed planets, Cassiopeia I and Cassiopeia IV-A. The former looks Earth-like while the latter lets you check out a Saturn-like panet on the horizon. This star system hasn’t been showcased by Bethesda yet.

Charybdis

Charybdis has two planets, Charybdis III and Charybdis V. Bethesda showed off the player fighting a monster in a building on Charybdis III. As for Charybdis V, all we know is that it will feature deserts. This star system hasn’t been showcased by Bethesda yet.

Cheyenne

There’s not a lot we know about this star system. The Starfield Cheyenne star system has the planet Akila, which is where Akila City is located. With strong connections to the freedom-loving Freestar Collective and space pirate Crimson Fleet factions, it’ll be a great place to rack up Starfield credits. Akila City is also vulnerable to raids from the Ashta, predators that look like a mix between a wolf and a velociraptor.

Kryx

An in-game email from U.C. Fleet Admiral Pascular Logan stated that ‘pirates of the Crimson Fleet have extended far beyond the Kryx system.’ This implies that the Crimson Fleet has a strong presence here. The email also mentions that this is ‘clearly no longer just a Freestar Collective problem.’ This might also mean that the Kryx system is one of the three star systems under the Freestar Collective.

Linnaeus

We don’t have much information about Linnaeus at the moment. It is near the Olympus star system.

Lunara

We don’t know much about the Lunara star system. The Into the Starfield video also mentions Lunara along with three other star systems with a Crimson Fleet presence.

Narion

We don’t know much about Narion’s planets. The Into the Starfield video also mentions Narion alongside three other star systems with a considerable Crimson Fleet foothold. Bethesda also used this star system to show off the ability to build Starfield outposts for resource generation. It has three confirmed planets: Magreth, Niira, and Vectera.

Nirah

The Nirah star system is another system that we don’t know much about. It houses Kazarah and its moon Ka’zaal.

Porima

While we haven’t seen Porrima’s planets, we got to see Porrima IV-C in the Starfield Direct. Its confirmed locations are Porrima III, Porrima IV-C, Porrima IV-D, Porrima V, and Porrima V-A.

Procyon A

West of the Sol system and northwest of Alpha Centauri, you can find Procyon A. We only know of one planet so far, Procyon III.

Sagan

We don’t know much about Sagan. The Into the Starfield video mentions Sagan among the four systems with an established Crimson Fleet presence.

Sol

Sol is Starfield’s most crowded star system, with 11 important locations to explore. Among them, Earth, Luna, and Mars have been showcased so far. Devs say that we’ll ‘learn about the fate of Earth very early into the campaign.’ Resource-rich Mars is home to Cydonia, a crucial mining settlement of the Starfield United Colonies faction. Here are all the confirmed locations in the Sol star system:

  • Earth
  • Io
  • Jupiter
  • Luna
  • Mars
  • Mercury
  • Neptune
  • Pluto
  • Saturn
  • Uranus
  • Venus

Tau Ceti

The Tau Ceti is another star system that is a looming question mark at the moment. It houses the Tau Ceti VIII planet and its moon Tau Ceti VIII-B.

Starfield Star Systems: An image of Neon City in the Volii system.

Volii

The Volii star system houses Volii Alpha, the location of Neon City. We don’t know of any other planets but there’s plenty happening in Volii Alpha. Described as a pleasure city, Neon City was a fishing platform until the Xenofresh Corporation found out about the fish’s psychotropic properties. It’s also the home turf of the Ryujin Industries faction. Expect plenty of weapons markets and other illicit gadgets.

Other planets

Here are some of the other worlds that have been revealed in Starfield:

  • Altair II – Hosts a tech facility with Spacer Punks.
  • Anselon – A currently unseen planet that has Kreet as a moon.
  • Bardeen III – You’ll find some annoyed spiderwasps here.
  • Beta Ternion III – A green planet where strange fruits can be harvested.
  • Freya IX-B – A moon that is home to both storms and insectoid aliens.
  • Groombridge VIII-A – Expect to see some dino-lizard hybrids here.
  • Kreet – Kreet has an “abandoned research facility” where you’ll come across the Crimson Fleet faction.
  • Kumasi III – A lush, green planet.
  • Montara Luna – All we know is that its low gravity makes for some fun shootouts.
  • Neebas – A snowy planet with mysterious inhabitants.
  • Nemeria IV-A – A rocky moon with palm trees and other flora.
  • Nesoi – Fans spotted futuristic wind turbines among their plant life.
  • Nirvana II – Meet hunting cephalopods that need to be exterminated.
  • Sumati – A reddish planet with inhabitants that we don’t know about.
  • Sy-920 – Houses a warehouse with Va’Ruun Zealots.
  • Syrma I – A planet with interesting rock formations.
  • Tidacha I: Appears to house mysterious alien relics that are key to one of Starfield’s narratives.
  • Verne II – Houses the deadly Hunting Thornmantis.
  • Washakie – Has a science facility.

That covers all the Starfield star systems we know about so far. Fuelled by a grav drive, Starfield’s ambitions could eclipse open-world games like Skyrim, Fallout, and other Bethesda games in scope. A Game Pass drop on Xbox Series consoles and PC will make the game even more accessible. Expect more gameplay and information as we near the Starfield release date. Upcoming teasers might give us a fresh look at some of the companions and factions from Starfield.

How many star systems are in Starfield?

Starfield will have over 100 star systems.

Will Starfield have full planets?

Starfield will have roughly 1000 planets to explore, but only around 100 of them will contain life.
