Of all the planets in Starfield Jemison is among the most important within civilised space. Even if you’re not looking to become an explorer, you’ll want to learn all you can about this important spot in the galaxy, as you’re bound to go here sooner or later.

We’ll go over everything we know about the earth-like little orb in this Starfield Jemison planet guide, from the planet’s characteristics to its main features. That way you’ll be well prepared when we finally reach the Starfield release date later this year.

What is Jemison?

Jemison is a major planet in Starfield, located in the Alpha Centauri system. Named after NASA’s first black female astronaut, Mae Jemison, the planet is a temperate world within the habitable zone of the system. It sports abundant native fauna and flora and its gravity is relatively comparable to that of Earth, at roughly 90% the same strength. It’s astronomically nearby to a few other planets, including Gagarin.

Jemison is also the central jewel of the Starfield United Colonies faction, and the one of most important planets within their territory. It’s highly populated, wealthy, and hosts the United Colonies capital. It’s also the main base of operations for another important group, the Starfield Constellation faction. As they are comparably non-existent in terms of size, the intrepid space explorers share the United Colonies’ capital planet as their own home base of operations.

With the presence of two of Starfield’s most important factions planetside, one of which is story-critical, you will almost certainly be visiting Jemison. If you choose to stick around and explore though, there’s plenty more that the world can offer.

Jemison main features

Jemison has a number of points of interest that we know about so far. It’s a distinct possibility that we’ll learn about other explorable areas on the world in the future. For now, the two main locations you’ll be able to visit at Jemison are New Atlantis City and Constellation’s LO-868 space station. There’s also a mining outpost near the planet’s southern pole, but we currently don’t have any information on it.

New Atlantis City

New Atlantis City is the aforementioned capital of the United Colonies. It’s a prosperous city, but one where the law-and-order ideology of the UC reigns, so try not to get into too many bar fights. There are a fair few points of interest within New Atlantis City that we know you’ll be able to visit. These include:

• Constellation Headquarters – The small, overgrown HQ for the faction of scientists and explorers.
• Galbank – A towering central bank and financial centre for the city and the system.
• Interstellar Inn – A hotel for space travellers, located close to the starport.
• NAT – Standing for New Atlantis Transit, NAT is your public transport system around the city.
• Mast – A headquarters and recruitment station for the Vanguard, the military subdivision of the United Colonies.
• Terrabrew Coffee – A popular coffee shop. Extra useful since food and drink provide health and status effect buffs in-game.
• UCSEC – The offices for United Colonies Security and Safety, the division tasked with maintaining order throughout the faction’s territory. This’ll likely be a good place to pick up quests.

Once we learn more about New Atlantis City, it’s possible there will be more points of interest to look forward to as well.

Constellation Space Station LO-868

Found in orbit around Jemison, LO-868 is one of Constellation’s most important assets. Its design roughly resembles that of a giant compass. The station is equipped for scientific research and assistance in Constellation operations. You can expect to find a few more Constellation NPCs up here, and there’s a good likelihood you’ll be able to pick up a few more unique quests, too. It’s unknown if Constellation operates – or ever operated – more space stations. Given how small the faction currently is though, it’s likely a safe bet to assume this is one of their largest and most important assets.

Jemison NPCs

We don’t currently know all the NPCs you’ll be able to meet on Jemison, but there are a few confirmed to be present on or in orbit of the planet. Here are the ones we know for sure you’ll be able to find:

• Matteo – Constellation’s resident theologian.
• Noel – Constellation member and apprentice to the faction’s leader.
• Sarah – The head of the Constellation faction.
• Vasco – A Constellation robot and optional companion.
• Vlad – An ex-pirate currently employed by Constellation.
• Walter – Constellation’s head of finances.

There are doubtless going to be others, but due to their story importance, we’re more certain of the presence of these Constellation members on Jemison. We can still speculate though. We know for example that Fleet Admiral Pascual Logan is a key figure within the United Colonies, so it’s possible he’ll be present on or make an appearance at Jemison. There are sure to be some important personnel at the UCSEC offices as well, and it may be that we even meet elements of the faction’s government. None of this is as of yet confirmed though.
