In our Starfield Gagarin planet guide, we’ll go over everything we know so far about one of many Starfield planets, as well as some reasonable speculation for what to expect. As we near the Starfield release date, we may learn more about this world, and we’ll be sure to update you if that becomes the case.

What is Gagarin?

Gagarin is a temperate world found in the Alpha Centauri system. Named after the real life Yuri Gagarin, the first man in outer space, it is described by Bethesda’s Todd Howard as a “Goldilocks planet”, we can surmise that the world falls within the star system’s habitable zone, and unlike many other planets, it does not have any moons. Its weather is reasonably tame, and its gravity isn’t that far off of Earths, at 0.89Gs. This means it’s 89% as strong as gravity on Earth.

Gagarin is in the Alpha Centauri system along with the planet Jemison, which holds the capital of the Starfield United Colonies faction. While we know little about what to expect planetside for Gagarin, its place in the heart of UC territory imply that it’ll probably have a few features of note. This could come in the form of something as grand as a city, but will almost certainly mean at least some NPCs and a few quests available on the world.

Its temperate climate means that Gagarin is also likely to boast a wealth of wildlife, and there’s been some speculation that it might act as a sort of safari world. Given the strong presence of the Starfield Constellation faction in the system as well, it’s not unreasonable to wonder if players might even pay it a visit as part of a campaign mission or side quest on behalf of the intrepid explorers. This is made even more likely by the presence of the only confirmed feature we know for sure to expect on the planet at the moment, labelled as an “Unknown Structure”.
