When is the NBA 2K24 release date? With the 2022-23 NBA season long over, fans from the NBA 2K Community have started to move on from the last edition of the basketball video game series, NBA 2K23. Though free agency is still abuzz, the relevancy and interest level for NBA 2K23 is decreasing by the day as the heart of the offseason sets in. And as a result, fans of NBA 2K23 are shifting their attention more towards the next edition of the series arriving this year, NBA 2K24.

Well, to the delight of fans everywhere, 2K Sports revealed its NBA 2K24 cover athlete on July 6, marking the very first major announcement regarding the new basketball video game. Although this was big news, fans have become eager to see when this next edition will arrive this year. And earlier in July, NBA 2K24 not only covered some breaking news about crossplay, but did also reveal its official release date as well.

NBA 2K24 release date

The official release date for NBA 2K24 is on Friday, September 8, 2023. Considering NBA 2K23 and NBA 2K22 both launched on the second Friday of the month of September over these last two years, it comes to no surprise that NBA 2K24 followed suit once more with an identical release date.

Prior to NBA 2K22’s arrival, 2K Sports did choose to release NBA 2K21 on the very first Friday of the month that year in 2020. However, that hasn’t been the case since then.

For those that don’t know, NBA 2K23 didn’t come with an early access period. But will that finally change for NBA 2K24? We cover whether fans can expect to receive an early access period for the next NBA 2K video game in the following section.

NBA 2K24 early access status

At the time of this writing, NBA 2K24 will not have an early access period. As many fans know, NBA 2K23 did not come with an early access period either, nor was it available as a reward among the pre order bonuses. And, lo and behold, that is the case once more with NBA 2K24. This was also the case in previous editions as well, including NBA 2K22.

NBA 2K prides itself on its uniqueness, and seeing how well their pre order bonuses tend to fare with the community and fans across the various editions they offer, it doesn’t come to a surprise that they opted out of providing that this year.

Most sports game series such as Madden, MLB The Show, and FIFA, have all catered 3-Day Early Access periods in previous editions, usually attainable by pre ordering the deluxe or ultimate editions of the games. But 2K Sports has been the sole exception that’s refrained from adding an early access period, and has done so yet again for NBA 2K24.
