In roughly a months time, NBA 2K will be releasing its newest edition of its series, which will include the community favorite NBA 2K24 MyTEAM mode. With each release over the last three plus years, NBA 2K has taken the time and diligence to tap into their creativity and deliver better improvements for MyTEAM, and that really came to life in NBA 2K23.

With the NBA 2K24 release date still a ways out, fans have yet to see many of the new reveals, including for MyTEAM and the new player ratings. Along with the popular MyCAREER single player experience, MyTEAM is one of the most entertaining game modes to enjoy, and will likely be a hit once more in NBA 2K24. While we wait for the highly anticipated reveal, here’s a look at five changes we think would make NBA 2K24’s MyTEAM experience one of the best to date.

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM

NBA 2K24 MyTEAM reveal date prediction

Based on what NBA 2K has revealed so far, the NBA 2K24 MyTEAM reveal will be arriving the week of August 28. With that in mind, we are predicting that the NBA 2K24 MyTEAM reveal will take place on Thursday, August 31, which is a prediction we also have in our NBA 2K24 Trailers guide as well.

Although this is a possibility, NBA 2K has yet to announce the actual reveal date for MyTEAM, so it could be different than the one we’re predicting. NBA 2K24 has not posted any of its reveals at this time of writing, but will start doing so over the course of August. So be sure to stay updated here on the latest information you need to know about NBA 2K24 MyTEAM.

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM

NBA 2K24 MyTEAM Top 5 changes we want to see

In case some of you are new to MyTEAM in NBA 2K, this fun and engaging online mode is based on collecting player card items that you can use to assemble your best squads to play with. If you’re familiar with Ultimate Team for Madden, FIFA, or NHL, or perhaps play Diamond Dynasty for MLB The Show 23, MyTEAM is the NBA 2K version of those modes, allowing fans to unlock or purchase elite player cards spanning multiple eras to form their favorite fantasy squads they can use to compete with in single or multiplayer modes.

Last year in NBA 2K23, various great new changes were introduced into the mode, such as the removal of contracts. Although NBA 2K23 MyTEAM did a great job, there’s always something that could be tweaked on or improved to make the mode even better than the year prior. NBA 2K24 MyTEAM doesn’t need to go crazy with any whole scale changes this year, but we do have five recommendations the mode could really benefit from and that we hope to see come launch.

5. More Challenge Deluxe Packs

For anyone in the community that played through the seasonal pack challenges you can find in the Skill Challenges menu in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM, most of you will likely understand the frustration of opening a regular pack you just unlocked after completing its three challenges only for you to come away with a Ruby player item or lower. In fact, most of the packs you would unlock would come with low-level rewards that would most of the time not come near any of your lineups.

This is why when a new pack drops in NBA 2K24 MyTEAM and comes with a set of challenges to unlock a free version of it, it has to be a Deluxe version of the pack. The Deluxe Packs usually come with much better player items and are far more rewarding to unlock and play for than regular ones that will sometimes even give you lower quality repeats you just don’t need. Though it’s a small change, it’s an important one to implement for NBA 2K24 MyTEAM so anyone playing through skill challenges can benefit more from the players they receive out of the packs they unlock.

4. Better Level 1 Player Rewards

What NBA 2K23 did over Season 7 and then over Season 8 was special. In case you missed it, the NBA 2K23 Season 7 Level 1 reward was a Galaxy Opal 98 overall Josh Giddey card, while the one from Season 8, was a 99 overall End Game Stephen Curry player item. Naturally, we don’t expect NBA 2K24 to implement these kind of rewards right away. But quite frankly, the Free Agent cards are nothing special, and more than often, don’t get used because of their limited five-day contracts.

This is why in NBA 2K24 MyTEAM, the community should be able to receive better Level 1 player rewards to start with, even if they’re a bit below the Diamond level in the earlier seasons. It’s only fair to the fans looking to grind the season reward paths, and for those looking to not put in much MyTEAM Coin or VC for the game mode.

3. Earlier Integration of Dark Matters

Two of best Dark Matter player series in NBA 2K23 were that of the Invincible Series and the End Game Series. However, both came onto the scene a bit too late in NBA 2K23. With the first Invincible player arriving in Season 6 and a lot more coming out over Seasons 7 and 8, MyTEAM could have opted to introduce these players a little earlier to maximize those still invested in the mode towards the end of the NBA regular season and over the playoff period.

It’s understandable to leave the best cards for last. But it’s also better if most of the community can enjoy them for longer by receiving them earlier, which isn’t a difficult change for NBA 2K24 to implement.

2. Improved Vault & Wheel Odds

The likelihood of receiving the elite prizes that come in the Vault and Wheel when you win games in Triple Threat or Clutch Time, were terribly low in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM, no matter how many wins you accumulated. Although there’s a chance you could come away with a player or two from the vault or wheel over the course of the game, there has to be a better level of consistency of landing those awesome prizes on a more regular basis.

The Vault and Spin Wheel change rewards with every season as well, so it only makes sense for MyTEAM to allow fans to capitalize on those limited time rewards for playing diligently and often. And as most of you who’ve played MyTEAM know, these two prize mechanisms are strictly based on luck and don’t reward the efforts you put into the modes that have them consistently enough.

1. Boost MyTEAM Coin Earnings for Wins

The biggest change that’s necessary for NBA 2K24 MyTEAM, is that of providing better and bigger MyTEAM Coin earnings for securing wins, no matter the mode you play. Though Triple Threat and Clutch Time can move by fairly quickly, 250 MyTEAM Coin doesn’t get you much, and makes the saving up process a grueling one seeing players in the Auction Market will range from five to six figures.

Yes, you can secure large increments from the Vault and from prize balls as well. But the brunt of your time on MyTEAM will be consumed with playing and building your teams. And though some of you will tap into your VC for packs and players, most will use their MyTEAM Coin, and saving up for just one to two players should not take multiple weeks or months. Ideally, earning anywhere from 350 to 450 MyTEAM Coin for each win, and maybe more for greater level difficulties, would be a big step up and allow fans to really take their squad building to new heights.
