Wondering how to get to Fontaine in Genshin Impact? Fontaine is the latest region added to the ever-growing Genshin Impact. Following on from the previously-added area, Sumeru, which was covered in lush rainforests and sprawling deserts, Fontaine couldn’t be more different. Taking inspiration from French culture, the region of Fontaine is bathed in water and full of clockwork, steampunk-styled machines and architecture.
While the new Genshin Impact 4.0 banners might have your attention, the biggest addition in this update is Fontaine. Reaching the new area is simple, and you can do it at any point in the game after clearing the Act 3 Archon Quest Song of the Dragon and Freedom in Mondstadt. Without further ado, here’s how to reach Fontaine with the launch of Genshin Impact patch 4.0.

How to reach Fontaine
As it stands, there are technically two ways to get to Fontaine. The first way becomes available upon the completion of the early story quests, Act 3 Archon Quest Prologue, Song of the Dragon and Freedom. When you complete this quest, a teleport waypoint will automatically unlock in the desert of Sumeru.
While you can get there in the early game, you can’t progress through the Archon quest related to Fontaine until you clear all the previous ones released throughout 3.0 in Sumeru. With that said the entire region should be fully explorable to you.
The second way to get there is once you’re all caught up with the Archon quests in Genshin Impact. When you launch the game after update 4.0 you will have a new Archon quest that begins in Caravan Ribat in Sumeru.

Head there and you will automatically travel to the first teleport waypoint outside of Fontaine. The same teleport waypoint is the one that will automatically unlock, but to do the Archon quest you must begin in Caravan Ribat. The area that leads to Fontaine on foot can be found in Sumeru, just up past the Vourukasha Oasis and through the Hills of Barsom.
Unlike other areas such as Inazuma, you don’t have to worry about being unable to reach the area due to story reasons. This gives you free rein to explore the new area with everyone else, even if you’ve not done the prior Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru quests.
Patch 4.0 might have only just been released, but there’s plenty of speculation looking ahead to what’s coming in Genshin Impact patch 4.1. You could also check out our Genshin Impact redemption codes guides.
