looking for the best builds for Lyney in Genshin Impact? Lyney is a brand-new five-star Pyro character who uses a bow. He’s the brother of Lynette and a magician from Fontaine.

As the first five-star character from Fontaine, Lyney is a strong showing right off the bat. He fits into your party as one of the stronger DPS characters in Genshin Impact, able to deal considerable damage with charged shots from his bow. His Elemental Skill and Burst also work around this playstyle, enhancing his charged shot damage. Now, on to the best Lyney builds.

Best weapons for Lyney

Genshin Impact likes to release characters alongside their signature weapons in the weapon banner. If you want the best build for Lyney, you might want to consider getting his bow, the First Great Magic. You can wish for it on the weapon banner running alongside Lyney’s current event banner in 4.0 and it’s his best-in-slot weapon.

Across the board it enhances two key stats for Lyney, which are increased charge shot damage and the weapon has Crit DMG as its main stat. Not only this, but it synergises with one of Lyney’s passive Talents that want you to use him in teams with more than one Pyro character.

If you don’t have the First Great Magic, there are plenty of substitutes that you can give to Lyney. All of the five-star bows will generally work well for Lyney, so if you have any spare then feel free to give them to him. The craftable Song of Stillness, which you can get in Fontaine, is arguably his best-in-slot four-start weapon. Other than this, more four-star options include the Ibis Piercer, Prototype Cresent, and the Hamayumi.

WeaponMain StatPassive Effect
The First Great Magic (5*)Crit DMGDMG dealt by Charged Attacks increased by 16%. For every party member with the same Elemental Type as the wielder (including the wielder themselves), gain 1 Gimmick stack. For every party member with a different Elemental Type from the wielder, gain 1 Theatrics stack. When the wielder has 1/2/3 or more Gimmick stacks, ATK will be increased by 16%/32%/48%. When the wielder has 1/2/3 or more Theatrics stacks, Movement SPD will be increased by 4%/7%/10%.
Aqua Simulacra (5*)Crit DMGHP increased by 16%. When there are opponents nearby, the DMG dealt by the wielder of this weapon is increased by 20%. This will take effect whether the character is on-field or not.
Thundering Pulse (5*)Crit DMGIncreases ATK by 20% and grants the might of the Thunder Emblem. At stack levels 1/2/3, the Thunder Emblem increases Normal Attack DMG by 12/24/40%. The character will obtain 1 stack of Thunder Emblem in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Skill (stack lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack’s duration is calculated independently.
Song of Stillness (4*)ATK%After the wielder is healed, they deal 16% more DMG for 8s. This can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.
Prototype Crescent (4*)ATK%Charged Attack hits on weak points increase Movement SPD by 10% and ATK by 36% for 10s.
Ibis Piercer (*4)ATK%The character’s Elemental Mastery will increase by 40 within 6s after Charged Attacks hit opponents. Max 2 stacks. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s.

✓ Jack’s Opinion

The Song of Stillness is arguably his best F2P option

Due to Lyney damaging himself with charged shots, you want someone healing him. If you keeo his HP up, he can benefit from more damage stacks from his Passive and benefit from the passive effect of this weapon for an even bigger ATK increase.

Best Artifact sets for Lyney

Lyney’s best-in-slot Artifact set is the newly-released Marechaussee Hunter set from Fontaine. As a main DPS Pyro character, Lyney’s Artifact stats are incredibly simple making him easy to build. All you need is ATK% on your Sands, Pyro DMG on your Goblet, and Crit Rate/DMG on your Circlet.

Wearing the full four-piece set of Marechaussee Hunter will boost Lyney’s charged attack damage and gives him a stackable Crit rate bonus when his HP increases or decreases. With that said, you could still use other Artifact sets on Lyney, but they won’t be as optimal. For the best Lyney build, try these sets:

Artifact SetSet BonusReason
Marechaussee HunterTwo-piece: Normal and Charged Attack DMG +15%
Four-piece: When current HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5s. Max 3 stacks.
Due to Lyney’s playstyle around charged shots, this synergises perfectly with his kit. When he uses a charged shot, he loses HP if he’s above 65%, which means he will always activate the Crit Rate bonus from this set.
LavawalkerTwo-piece: Pyro RES increased by 40%.
Four-piece: Increased DMG against enemies affected by Pyro by 35%.
Lyney has the passive effect of dealing more damage to enemies who are affected by Pyro. Since this Artifact set adds to this bonus, you can get decent damage out of Lyney using this. However, this should only be used as an alternative until you can get the Marechaussee Hunter set.
Shimenawa’s ResistanceTwo-piece: ATK +18%
Four-piece: When casting an Elemental Skill, if the character has 15 or more Energy, they lose 15 Energy and Normal/Charged/Plunging Attack DMG is increased by 50% for 10s. This effect will not trigger again during that duration.
Another attack-boosting set that works well for Lyney. His Skill has a low cooldown and he doesn’t need much Energy to use his Burst. You can sacrifice both of these things to increase his charged shot damage.

If you want to play around with the Shimenawa’s set on Lyney, you need to remember to use his Skill at the start of every rotation, otherwise, you will lose out on optimal DPS. If you want the best build for Lyney, you should always go for the full Marechaussee Hunter set.

In terms of Artifact stats and substats, Lyney is not a demanding character to build. You should focus on ATK% and Crit rate/DMG on his substats.

Lyney Talent priority

When it comes to levelling Lyney’s Talents, you should first prioritise his Normal Attack Talent, since this will increase how much damage he does with Charged Attacks. After that, you should level his Skill and Burst equally. Lyney’s main damage comes from his Charged Shot, so pumping those numbers up will be the best route.

Lyney Constellations – Genshin Impact best Lyney builds

Lyney’s Constellations are fairly impressive, which makes a lot of sense since HoYoverse wants people to pull multiple copies of him as the first Fontaine five-star we’re getting. For what it’s worth, Lyney is the first character in Genshin Impact to have their Normal Attack Talent levelled up through his Constellations at C3.

  1. Whimsical Wonders – Lyney can have 2 Grin-Malkin Hats Present at once. Additionally, Prop Arrows will summon 2 Grin-Malkin Hats and grant Lyney 1 extra stack of Prop Surplus. This effect can occur once every 15s.
  2. Loquatious Cajoling – When Lyney is on the field, he will gain a stack of Crisp Focus every 2s. Each stack will increase his CRIT DMG by 29%. Max 3 stacks. This effect will be cancelled when Lyney leaves the Field.
  3. Prestidigitation – Increases the Level of Normal Attack: Card Force Translocation by 3. Maximum Upgrade level is 15.
  4. Well-Versed, Well Rehearsed – After an opponent is hit by Lyney’s Pyro Charged Attack, this opponent’s Pyro RES will be decreased by 20% for 6s.
  5. To Pierce Enigmas – Increases the Level of Wondrous Trick: Miracle Parade by 3. Maximum Upgrade level is 15.
  6. Guarded Smile – When Lyney fires a Prop Arrow, he will fire a Pyrotechnic Strike: Reprised that will deal 80% of a Pyrotechnic Strike’s DMG. This DMG is considered Charged Attack DMG.

C3 Lyney will give you more DPS potential, letting you level his Normal Attack Talent even further than normal. Other than this, Lyney will perform perfectly well without any of these Constellations. That’s all for the best Lyney build, why not check out our guide for Genshin Impact best Lynette build and the Genshin Impact best builds for Yelan now that update 4.0 and Fontaine is in full swing.
