The updated map comes with the addition of a jungle biome. You’ll find patches of it scattered throughout, but the heart of the jungle is at the map’s centre. Players will need to be versatile and adaptive if they want to succeed. Here are all the POIs that’ll be worth checking out on the new map:

  • Breakwater Bay – A medieval town on the northwest coast. It’s been reworked since it first appeared.
  • Brutal Bastion – An imposing castle set high on the mountains in the northeast.
  • Creeky Compound – A new loot-rich but small and mysterious compound set up in the jungle.
  • Frenzy Fields – A vast swathe of southwestern farmland dotted with barns full of gear.
  • Kenjutsu Crossing – A peaceful rural palatial complex in the south, inspired by Japanese architecture.
  • Knotty Nets – A small fishing hamlet found in the southeast of the map.
  • Lonely Labs – A modern but sparse polar expeditionary lab, in the freezing tundra of the northeast.
  • Mega City – A digital-neo-modern metropolis, centering the southeastern corner of the map.
  • Rumble Ruins – The new jungle temple in the rainforest at the map’s centre.
  • Shady Stilts – A raised fishing colony perched over the wide river at the far north.
  • Shattered Slabs – A sparse series of settlements in the temperate centre west of the map.
  • Slappy Shores – A modern dockland to the central east of the map, housing a factory that makes Slap Juice.
  • Steamy Springs – A peaceful residential area at the south of the map, populated with flora.
  • The Citadel – A huge fortified settlement in the northwest, guarded by a boss called The Ageless One.

Creeky Compound and Rumble Ruins are both new.

Why explore the Fortnite map?

There are plenty of advantages to exploring far and wide on the Fortnite map. There’s a lot to explore after all.

First is the new map changes. Moving through new areas, you can find all sorts of new prime loot spots, favourable terrain, and even additional mechanics. The new jungles are a good example. Fortnite raptors are now ridable, and can be found most commonly within these jungles. Vines in here can be used like grind rails, allowing you to traverse the world in new ways.

A second advantage to exploration is the experience. We’re not just talking about becoming better at the game through learning all about the layout either – though that’s obviously useful. Whenever you discover new POIs for the first time, you’ll recieve a small amount of XP, helping you to level up faster.

Third is story progression. With many missions to pick up from various NPCs across the map, exploration is the fastest way to encounter new faces. NPCs like Volpez, Bryne and Trace will be able to offer you quests worth completing.

What are Fortnite hot spots and how to find them

You might have heard the term “hot spots” in reference to POIs on the Fortnite map before. Put simply, a hot spot is a one-game-long area with higher chances for rare loot. Each match, two POIs on the map will have their name text in yellow – this indicates that they’re hot spots. The spots will change every match.

At a hot spot, you’ll be able to find drones flying around. Shoot them down, and they’ll drop rare and valuable loot, allowing you to get ahead in the game early. Be careful though – hot spots live up to their namesake, and you’ll likely have to fight off other players to collect the goodies.

That’s everything you’ll need to know about the new Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 map, including its layout, POIs, and what to expect when you glide in. Be sure to keep up to date with the latest like the new Fortnite augments coming for this season, or even the Fortnite red and blue llamas, so you’re prepared for whatever the season throws at you.
