Ultimate Team will feature in EA’s new title, and some new EA Sports FC 24 Icons are on the way! Over 100 legends are already playable in FUT, but which players will be added to the list of Icons in the new game?

Celebrating iconic stars of days gone by, Icons will be some of the most powerful cards in EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team. We already have one new face confirmed for Icon status, and plenty more leaked. Find out all you need to know about Icons in FC 24 below.

EA Sports FC 24 Icons

What are EA Sports FC 24 Icons? Icons are legendary players that are available in Ultimate Team, and they are some of the rarest items available in packs. They also contribute differently to your team’s chemistry in the game. 

After the overhauled chemistry system introduced in FIFA 23, Icon players will always play on a full three chemistry points, if they are played in their correct position. They also add an extra point to the nationality threshold, helping all players who share the same nation reach their maximum chemistry.

Coming to FC 24, Icons will now also provide an extra league chemistry point to all players too. This extra boost should elevate them in the game, as FUT Heroes were becoming far more useable due to the chemistry they offer.

Each Icon previously has three versions as standard; a Base, Mid, and Prime item. These would be released at various stages throughout the FUT campaign. However, this will also be changed in EA FC, with just Base versions of Icons released at launch. Upgraded Icon cards will come as Campaign versions throughout the game cycle, helping EA keep the power curve in line. We saw Campaign Icons introduced in FIFA 23 during promos such as Team of the Year, Trophy Titans, FUT Birthday, and Shapeshifters.

Brazil superstars Pele, Ronaldo, and Ronaldinho feature among the current crop of footballing royalty in the game. Former England legends David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, and Wayne Rooney are also available.

FC 24 Confirmed Icons

We have our first confirmed Icon of the EA FC era, with former USA international Mia Hamm also the inaugural Women’s Icon! Eagle-eyed fans spotted her on the EA FC 24 Ultimate Edition cover, and when you ‘Explore the Cover’ on the official EA website, it confirms her as belonging to the Icon league.

Regarded as one of the greatest women’s footballers of all time, Hamm was an athletic, hard-working forward, with great skill at putting the ball in the net as well as providing for teammates. A two-time Olympic gold medalist and double World Cup winner, there is no doubt that Hamm is an icon!

Rui Costa and Jari Litmanen are confirmed NOT to be Icons in FC 24. Instead, they are being switched to FUT Hero versions.

Leaks

Leaks are rife within FIFA 23, and the same goes for EA Sports FC 24 Icons! Loads of former players have already been leaked as being tested in the game ahead of next season.

According to leakers, four new male Icons will make their way into the game. This will include Bobby Charlton, Zico, Franck Ribery, and one yet-to-be-named!

Brazilian midfielder Zico is set to make his return to the game, having previously appeared in Ultimate Team from FIFA 14 to FIFA 18. He was also due to be brought back into the game last season, only for that to fall through at the last minute. The contractual issues appear to have been resolved, and the Brazilian legend will be back.

Predictions

When it comes to new Icons in EA Sports FC 24, you can’t look too much further than the extensive list of players leaked. Whether there will be any more players added that aren’t on the list remains to be seen.

Two players that seem to feature in conversation more regularly than most are David Villa and Francesco Totti. Both have been rumoured to feature in past seasons, so EA Sports FC 24 may finally be the year!

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s retirement may see the Swedish maverick added too. The inclusion of Ibrahimovic would be incredibly popular among FUT fans given the commotion caused whenever a special item for the Swede is released.
