If you’re wondering what the weekly Destiny 2 Nightfall strike is this week, we have you covered. Nightfalls are among the toughest PvE challenges available in Destiny 2, but the greater challenge also offers greater reward. The satisfaction of completing a Nightfall Strike and the better quality gear both make Nightfalls a compelling activity to dive into.

Here, we’ll cover what the weekly Destiny 2 Nightfall strike is each and every week of its rotation, as well as what to expect from each strike. If you’re looking for fresh fun outside of Vanguard Operations though, why not have a look at how to fish in Destiny 2 and join in on one of the game’s most relaxing activities?

What is this week’s Nightfall strike

This week’s Nightfall is The Lightblade. You’ll face Hive in this encounter – specifically Lucent Hive. Be prepared for a difficult fight. Below, we’ll outline all the essentials you’ll need to know in order to beat this Nightfall.

Nightfall strike Outline

Outline: Continuing your investigation in The Witch Queen DLC campaign, Flynn suggests infiltrating an ancient Hive temple on the Throne World, dedicated to Savathun’s Late brother, Oryx. Deep within it are housed ancient artefacts that might reveal more information through your newly learned power of Deepsight. But the temple is guarded, by an old adversary of Oryx, now a fierce defender of his legacy. If you want to reach the heart of the structure and the artefacts within, you’ll first need to destroy Alak-Hul, The Lightblade.

Key Nightfall strike modifiers

There are plenty of modifiers in Nightfall Strikes, designed to make the challenge that much tougher. There will be different numbers of modifiers for Hero, Legend and Master difficulties, and Grandmasters when they release for this season. Some of the crucial ones will stay the same regardless of difficulty though. So here are the most important modifiers for this week’s Nightfall strike to keep in mind:

  • Champion Foes – Unstoppable and Barrier champions. Scout rifles, fusion rifles, bows and auto rifles will be your best friends for this week’s strike.
  • Overcharged weapons – Grenade launchers are overcharged, meaning they’ll do 25% more damage in this activity. The new Ex Diris grenade launcher could be a worthwhile pick to bring with you.
  • Surges – Strand Surge and Arc Surge are active, giving a 25% damage buff to these damage types and their subclasses.
  • Threats – Arc Threat is active, meaning you’ll take an additional 25% incoming damage from Arc sources.

What is the Nightfall weapon for this week?

Every week, you’ll have a chance to pick up a Nightfall weapon for completing runs of the strike, with higher difficulties improving the chances to get your hands on adept weapons and adept mods. Adept versions of weapons as a reminder are already masterworked guns with favourable rolls.

This week’s Nightfall weapon is Loaded Question, an arc fusion rifle. Loaded Question is a devastatingly powerful fusion rifle. Boasting a 100 impact rating, decent range and a high-impact frame, it’s capable of delivering a lot of damage. Even better, it’s got a high aim assist rating, making it an effective choice for PvP with the right mods. It has two Origin Traits available on both the standard and adept models. You can choose between either Stunning Recovery or Vanguard’s Vindication.

Extra Nightfall strike details

There’s plenty to keep in mind for any Nightfall. Here, we’ll outline some key advice for each week’s Nightfall to help you succeed:

  • Mobile Boss: Alak-Hul, the final boss of this encounter, loves to move around the arena. This can make him difficult to hit. If he closes distance, he’ll also attack with powerful melee strikes that can easily kill on higher difficulties. Be sure to strategise carefully when approaching this boss fight.
  • Light bearer Hive: This strike has Light-wielding Hive guardians in it, and a lot of them. They’re far tougher than normal enemies, and will respawn continuously if you don’t crush their ghost shell after felling them. Try to prioritise dealing with these foes first – if they get their super abilities, they can become a real problem.
  • Lucent Hive Moths: Anyone who’s interacted with the Lucent Hive sufficiently will know what these are. Lucent Moths grant overhshields to certain combatants, and leave their bodies when they die or the shields are broken. They’re small, hard to hit, and will track onto players like missiles. Being hit by one or several of these can easily result in an instant and explosive death. Watch out for them, and take care to deal with them from a distance as often as possible.

That’s everything you’ll need to know about the weekly Destiny 2 Nightfall strike, as well as some tips and tricks to help you beat it.
