Destiny 2 Campaign List

Since Destiny 2 was released in 2017, several campaigns telling the story of how the current saga came to be have come and gone. Now that Lightfall, the penultimate chapter for the current story line, has been released, there’s never been a better time to take a look back at the popular multiplayer FPS title’s history.

There have been a total of eight campaigns released so far for The Light and Darkness Saga, with the last chapter set to launch in 2024. With this in mind, we’ll be taking a look at all the campaigns that have come before it so you can get an idea of the game’s story before it ends.

Here are all the campaigns that have been released for Destiny 2 so far.

All Campaigns in Destiny 2

• The Red War Campaign – the Red War Campaign was the very first chapter that was made available upon the release of Destiny 2. This campaign introduced a lot of the locations, characters, and factions that continue to be present in the game today. This includes figures like Devrim Kay, and locations like the EDZ and Nessus. It has since been vaulted by Bungie in order to manage the amount of content that the game had.

• Curse of Osiris Campaign – the Curse of Osiris was the follow-up to the Red War that brought the titular character to the Destiny 2 roster. Its main plot revolved around the collective effort of the Guardians to rescue Osiris from the antagonistic Vex species. The missions that could be undertaken for this campaign took place on the planet Mars. Much like its predecessor, however, it has since been vaulted and is no longer publicly available.

• Warmind Campaign – after Curse of Osiris was released in December 2017, the Warmind campaign immediately followed a few months after in May 2018. Most of your tasks here revolve around helping Anastasia Bray in her quest to reconnect with the AI, Warmind Rasputin. Their mission is easier said than done, however, since the Hive and their worm-god, Xol, are hellbent on destroying the powerful AI. Unfortunately, this installment has also followed in the footsteps of the previous ones as it has similarly been vaulted.

• Forsaken Campaign – although the Forsaken expansion is still technically purchasable on multiple platforms, a lot of the content that it brought has now been removed from the game. This was also one of the more widely celebrated chapters in Destiny 2 history so its removal was naturally met with negativity. This installment’s main story revolved around you, the protagonist, attempting to avenge the death of Cayde-6 by hunting down Uldren Scov and his eight Scorn barons.

• Shadowkeep Campaign – unlike the four previously mentioned expansions, Shadowkeep remains available for all players to this day. The release of this chapter finally brought the Moon as a new destination into Destiny 2 as this is the location where the story heavily revolves around. The Nightmare faction and Nightmare Hunts were introduced during this installment as well.

• Beyond Light Campaign – the Beyond Light expansion is mostly known for introducing the Stasis subclass and the Deep Stone Crypt Raid to the game. Bungie also brought several popular exotics to the table during this chapter, like the No Time to Explain Pulse Rifle, the Necrotic Grip Warlock Arms piece, and The Lament Sword.

• The Witch Queen Campaign – The Witch Queen was the previous campaign that took place before the current Lightfall expansion. Upon its release, it quickly became one of the most widely celebrated installments in the Destiny 2 franchise to date with its campaign in particular being praised. Numerous popular Exotic pieces were also introduced during this campaign with the Osteo Striga SMG, the Parasite Grenade Launcher, and the Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk Hunter Chest Armor all standing out.

• Lightfall Campaign – Lightfall is the latest installment in the Destiny 2 franchise and serves as the penultimate chapter to The Light and Darkness Saga. This expansion introduces both the Strand subclass and the locale of Neomuna, where most of the story’s plot will take place. The Witness, the main antagonist of the saga, is also set to make its appearance for the first time.

All campaign missions in Destiny 2 Lightfall

These are the following missions you’ll need to accomplish to progress through Destiny 2 Lightfall’s story:

It’s important to note that these are only the main story missions that are listed. There will be plenty of side quests you can play through as you explore the locale of Neomuna. Once you’ve finished the entirety of this expansion’s story, you should be in a good place to take on the raid that it has on offer as well as the dungeons that are set to be introduced in the next few seasons.
