17 Best Forgeable Weapons In Genshin Impact

Before we start dive headfirst into our picks for the top forgeable weapons in Genshin, let’s understand how to craft a weapon. The skill of crafting weapons is known as “Forging” in the games and has several prerequisites.

First of all, every Forging you do requires you to visit a Blacksmith. You can find different Blacksmiths at various locations in Teyvat. Secondly, you need the diagram or recipe of each item you want to forge. Thirdly, you need the required materials and Mora for each forgeable item. Lastly, every item has a crafting time that you need to wait out once you choose to forge it.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the 17 best free-to-play weapons that you can forge in Genshin Impact, starting from great weapons and moving our way up to the best forgeable equipment possible.

17. Katsuragikiri Nagamasa 17/17

  • Weapon Type: Claymore
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +510
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Energy Recharge +45.9%
  • Passive: Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 6%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.
  • Suitable Characters: Sayu, Chongyun

We start off our list with Katsuragikiri Nagamasa, a Claymore from the Inazuma nation. Its diagram is obtained upon entering The Arsenal, a cave underneath the Tatarasuna area. It is one of the best free-to-play options for Support characters who require continuous Energy Charge to execute their attacks.

Aside from the bonus stat of 45.9% Energy Recharge, the passive effect of Nagamasa allows its wielder to regenerate energy with the Elemental Skill. Hence, it can continuously keep your team fueled up on the Elemental Burst, which is extremely valuable for characters who can dish out a ton of damage with their ultimate.

16. Kitain Cross Spear 16/17

  • Weapon Type: Polearm
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +565
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Elemental Mastery +110
  • Passive: Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 6%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.
  • Suitable Characters: Thoma, Raiden

The first Polearm on our list is the 4* craftable Kitain Cross Spear. This weapon’s true strength fully shines when it’s wielded by a strong Support character in your party with refined Elemental Mastery buffs.

Having said that, a balance of Elemental DMG and Elemental Skill/Burst is essential for your Support. Luckily, Kitain Cross Spear provides you with just that with its passive effect. Not only it boosts your Elemental DMG, but it also grants you constant Energy Recharge so you can spam your skill.

15. Frostbearer 15/17

  • Weapon Type: Catalyst
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +510
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: ATK +41.3%
  • Passive: Hitting an opponent with Normal and Charged Attacks has a 60% chance of forming and dropping an Everfrost Icicle above them, dealing 80% AoE ATK DMG. Opponents affected by Cryo are dealt 200% ATK DMG instead by the icicle. Can only occur once every 10s.
  • Suitable Characters: Rosaria, Xiangling, Thoma

The Frostbearer is one of the best 4* Catalysts that you can get for free. What makes it so incredible is the fact that its passive works just like Dragonspine Spear (a Polearm that’s further down our list). However, the difference is what makes it stand out.

Not only does the Frostbearer inflict high burst damage to enemies with a Cryo Element, but its bonus stat also increases the ATK DMG by $41.3%. So, you can continuously keep the enemies on their toes with just massive waves of damage.

14. Iron Sting 14/17

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +510
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Elemental Mastery +165
  • Passive: Dealing Elemental DMG increases all DMG by 6% for 6s. Max 2 stacks. Can only occur once every 1s.
  • Suitable Characters: Jean, Kaeya, Xingqiu, Kazuha, Shinobu

Next up on our list is Iron Sting, one of the two 4* swords which can be forged at the Blacksmith. It is perfectly viable for Support characters who constantly rely on their Elemental Skill/Burst, just like Katsuragikiri Nagamasa. However, unlike Nagamasa, Iron Sting stacks amplified Elemental Damage.

We can see that the bonus stat on Iron Sting offers a significant Elemental Mastery 165 in conjunction with a passive effect that boosts the Elemental Damage by 6%, even at the base Refinement Rank. Hence, the point of Iron Sting is to use it on a character who will trigger a lot of Elemental Reaction for increased damage output.

13. Prototype Rancour 13/17

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +565
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Physical DMG Bonus +34.5%
  • Passive: On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks increase ATK and DEF by 4% for 6s. Max 4 stacks. This effect can only occur once every 0.3s.
  • Suitable Characters: Kaeya, Jean Bennett, Physical Keqing

The Prototype Rancour is the second 4* sword that is available to be crafted at the Blacksmith. It hails from the honorable land of Liyue. Rancour ranks well in tandem with the Iron Sting when it comes to free-to-play swords. The critical difference is the fact that Rancour’s bonus stat provides a Physical Damage boost, as opposed to the Elemental Mastery boost of the Iron Sting.

Due to the ability of Rancour to boost Physical Damage, it best suits the Physical Damage dealing characters who would spam their attacks. As the Rancour can potentially stack on massive Physical DPS, it can also be a tremendously potent early-game sword for the Traveler if you primarily use them.

12. Snow-Tombed Starsilver 12/17

  • Weapon Type: Claymore
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: 565
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Physical DMG Bonus +34.6%
  • Passive: Hitting an opponent with Normal and Charged Attacks has a 60% chance of forming and dropping an Everfrost Icicle above them, dealing AoE DMG equal to 80% of ATK. Opponents affected by Cryo are instead dealt DMG equal to 200% of ATK. Can only occur once every 10s.
  • Suitable Characters: Razor, Beidou, Xinyan, Eula

If you are a fan of greatswords and harassing your enemies with a combination of Physical and Elemental Damage, the Snow-Tombed Starsilver is the weapon for you. It is a 4* Claymore that can be acquired in The Mural Room in Dragonspine.

It has a bonus stat of 34.6% boost in the Physical Damage, making it a feasible DPS weapon for Physical DMG characters. Once you pair it with someone like Eula, who has Cry Elemental Mastery, you can instantly chip away enemies’ health pool. The only reason it ranks below some of the other Claymores in this list is the fact that it is inaccessible until you’re at a high enough level.

11. Mappa Mare 11/17

  • Weapon Type: Catalyst
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +565
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Elemental Mastery +110
  • Passive: Triggering an Elemental Reaction grants a 8% Elemental DMG Bonus for 10s. Max 2 stacks.
  • Suitable Characters: Klee, Lisa, Mona, Yanfei, Sucrose

Next up, we have Mappa Mare, a 4* forgeable Catalyst weapon on our list. Catalysts are generally underrated in Genshin Impact since not a lot of people run DPS Mages build with them. However, when you’re getting such a potent weapon, you’ll want Mappa Mare on any damage dealer Mages.

Thanks to its Elemental Mastery bonus stat, you’ll be able to dish out an immense amount of damage. Let’s say you use Mappa Mare on Mona; you would be Vaporizing constantly, so the bonus stat of your Catalyst would amp up Elemental damage. Furthermore, the passive effect also increases Elemental Damage upon using an Elemental Reaction.

10. Compound Bow 10/17

  • Weapon Type: Bow
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +454
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Physical DMG Bonus +69%
  • Passive: Normal Attack and Charged Attack hits increase ATK by 4% and Normal ATK SPD by 1.2% for 6s. Max 4 stacks. Can only occur once every 0.3s.
  • Suitable Characters: Fischl, Venti

Ranking at number 10 is our first Bow on this list, the Compound Bow. It is the perfect free-to-play choice for you if you’re looking for a heavy-hitting Bow that acts more like a military-grade rifle.

The reason for this seemingly absurd comparison with a rifle is simple. The Computer Bow deals a large amount of damage rapidly due to a ridiculously high Physical Damage bonus of 69%. Moreover, its passive increases both the base ATK DMG and ATK Speed, making it destructive in the hands of DPS-Archers like Fischl and Venti.

9. Amenoma Kageuchi 9/17

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +454
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: ATK +55.1%
  • Passive: After casting an Elemental Skill, gain 1 Succession Seed. This effect can be triggered once every 5s. The Succession Seed lasts for 30s. Up to 3 Succession Seeds may exist simultaneously. After using an Elemental Burst, all Succession Seeds are consumed, and after 2s, the character regenerates 6 Energy for each seed consumed.
  • Suitable Characters: Ayaka, Jean, Support Kaeya

It would be surprising if you haven’t already heard of Amenoma Kageuchi, arguably the best free-to-play sword you can acquire in the game. It emerges from the national of Inazuma, and you get its diagram as a reward upon completing The Farmer’s Treasure quest.

The base attack on Kageuchi may not seem like a lot to many people, but its bonus stat provides one of the highest attack scaling percentages in the game. We highly recommend using it on a character that gets Crit DMG, Crit Rate, or Elemental to maximize its utility. Such a high-scaling attack percentage makes you a Field-DPS powerhouse.

That said, using Kageuchi on a Support character is also feasible. Its passive effect can constantly keep you replenished on Energy, making it possible for you to spam your Elemental Skill continually.

8. Dragonspine Spear 8/17

  • Weapon Type: Polearm
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +454
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Physical DMG Bonus +69%

If you have been using Snow-Tombed Starsilver, and want a Polearm substitute for that, then look no further. Dragonspine Spear is a craftable 4* Polearm that is obtained by completing The Festering Fang quest.

It is well-known for its range among other Polearms and has a passive AoE effect. You should definitely consider building it around a Cryo-Elemental character like Rosaria. The Physical DMG boost of Dragonspine Spear combined with 200% ATK DMG AoE inflicted by Cryo makes it deadly for burst damage.

7. Hamayumi 7/17

  • Weapon Type: Bow
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +454
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: ATK +55.1%
  • Passive: Increases Normal Attack DMG by 16% and Charged Attack DMG by 12%. When the equipping character’s Energy reaches 100%, this effect is increased by 100%.
  • Suitable Characters: Yoimiya, Fischl, Ganyu, Tartaglia

The second 4* Bow in our list is the Inazuma Bow, known as the Hamayumi. You should probably prefer this over The Compound Bow when your focus is solely on the base Attack Damage boost rather than Physical Damage.

Its inherent bonus stat has a 55.1% increased ATK DMG, which can be combined with the passive effect that grants an additional buff to both Normal and Charged Attacks. Thanks to this flat increase in ATK DMG, your DPS Archer would be sniping the enemies into oblivion with ease.

6. Prototype Crescent 6/17

  • Weapon Type: Bow
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +510
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: ATK +41.3%
  • Passive: Charged Attack hits on weak points increase Movement SPD by 10% and ATK by 36% for 10s.
  • Suitable Characters: Ganyu, Yoimiya, Amber

The final Bow on our list is the Prototype Crescent, a solid 4* rival of Hamayumi. On the surface, it may appear to have similar bonuses and stats as the Hamayumi, but the key difference is in their passive effects.

Whereas, Hamayumi grants a flat Attack Damage bonus in your Charged and Normal attacks, Crescent rewards precision over speed. If you target enemies’ weak points, you gain up to a 10% increase in Movement Speed with a 36% ATK DMG bonus. There’s no reason to rank one over the other in our list; it merely depends on how confident you feel about your aim.

5. Prototype Amber 5/17

  • Weapon Type: Catalyst
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +510
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: HP +41.3%
  • Passive: Using an Elemental Burst regenerates 4 Energy every 2s for 6s. All party members will regenerate 4% HP every 2s for this duration.
  • Suitable Characters: Barbara, Jean

The Prototype Amber is a rare weapon in Genshin Impact in terms of its effects and bonuses. It is a 4* Catalyst that provides a high bonus in the Wielder’s HP, making it perfect on the HP scaling Mages.

Its bonus stat of increased HP seems to benefit Barbara greatly if you run an on-field Support Mage build on her. That being said, Jean could be a beneficiary of Amber’s passive that recharges Energy and heals the party members. So, you can keep your party members’ HP topped up with Jean’s Ameno healing while spamming her Energy-costing Elemental Burst.

4. Hakushin Ring 4/17

  • Weapon Type: Catalyst
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +565
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Energy Recharge 30.6%
  • Passive: After the character equipped with this weapon triggers an Electro elemental reaction, nearby party members of an Elemental Type involved in the elemental reaction receive a 10% Elemental DMG Bonus for their element, lasting 6s. Elemental Bonuses gained in this way cannot be stacked.
  • Suitable Characters: Lisa, Kokomi, Mona

While Hakushin Ring may not be a better choice than Prototype Amber, it is undoubtedly unique as it utilizes Electro, one of the most underrated Elemental effects in Genshin Impact. Its bonus stat of Energy Recharge keeps your Energy requirement fulfilled even with Energy demanding Support characters in your team.

This Inazuma Catalyst grants a considerable buff to your party’s Electro Elemental status effect with its passive. The only downside to this passive effect is the fact that you cannot stack this Elemental status effect.

3. Whiteblind 3/17

  • Weapon Type: Claymore
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: 510
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: DEF +51.7%
  • Passive: On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks increase ATK and DEF by 6% for 6s. Max 4 stacks (24% total). Can only occur once every 0.5s.
  • Suitable Characters: Noelle, Xinyan

The Whiteblind is another 4* Claymore-type weapon in our list, designed for defensive-style plays. As Whiteblind grants a bonus stat of 51.7% DEF increase, it is intended for characters who have Defense-scaling abilities. Furthermore, its passive effect also buffs your ATK DMG, and you can stack it up to 4 times (another 24% DEF boost).

Perhaps you are unable to keep yourself buffed with the DEF bonus continuously, or you feel yourself getting pushed back from the battlefield. In that case, we have the perfect offensive DPS greatsword choice for you coming shortly on the list.

2. Crescent Pike 2/17

  • Weapon Type: Polearm
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +565
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: Physical DMG Bonus +34.5%
  • Passive: After picking up an Elemental Orb/Particle, Normal and Charged Attacks deal an additional 20% ATK as DMG for 5s.
  • Suitable Characters: Xiangling, Rosaria

Crescent Pike is one of the best 4* Polearms in Genshin Impact, perfect for a Field-DPS Xiangling build. The fact that it’s free-to-play is totally insane. Its bonus stat gives you a 34.5% Physical DMG boost that complements your high-damage output play.

The passive effect of Crescent Pike grants the ability to deal 20% more Attack Damage each time you pick up an Elemental Orb/Particle. If you are using the Pike on Xiangling, her companion would create many Particles, perpetually keeping your ATK DMG buffed.

1. Prototype Archaic 1/17

  • Weapon Type: Claymore
  • Lvl. 90 Base ATK: Attack +565
  • Lvl. 90 Bonus Stat: ATK +27.6%
  • Passive: On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks have a 50% chance to deal an additional 240% ATK DMG to opponents within a small AoE. Can only occur once every 15s.
  • Suitable Characters: Diluc, Razor, Eula, Chongyun

Now the king of free-to-play weapons, the best DPS greatsword you can acquire for free is the 4* Claymore named Prototype Archaic. Its base ATK Damage of 565 and bonus ATK of 27.6% rivals some of the 5* weapons like Wolf’s Gravestone (in fact, a Refinement 5 Archaic is an excellent substitute for Wolf’s Gravestoneif you are unlucky enough to roll it for your DPS characters).

Nevertheless, where the Prototype Archaic truly shines is its passive effect. It grants an unbelieve boost of 240% ATK DMG (with a 50% proc chance) on top of the already amped-up base and bonus Attack Damage.

Final Thoughts

With that, our list of the 17 best forgeable weapons in Genshin Impact is concluded. This goes to show everyone that you can have a lot of fun and strong weapon choices in Genshin Impact, even as a free-to-play casual gamer. Let us know in the comments whether you agree with our ranking. If you were to swap some weapons around, what would you change in your list?
