Upgrading talents is fundamental to making your characters stronger in Genshin Impact, and while the requirements for talent-leveling are quite simple initially, the demand only grows. Eventually, you’ll come to realize that when a particular talent of your character reaches level 9, it will require a new form of currency to proceed to the last level: Crown of Insight.

With that said, given how rare Crowns of Insight are, one must think twice before maxing out (or crowning) a talent because such an upgrade is irreversible. Thus, this guide’s scope will be to discuss the talents that one should crown, particularly if they are into DPS talents, support talents, or both.

13 Best Talents You Should Crown

The talents on this list (in no particular order) have been carefully selected based on several factors, different between DPS and Support talents. The high-level idea is to maximize damage output for DPS mains and the effectiveness of support abilities (healing, crowd control, protection, etc.) for Support mains.

Before moving onto the list, it’s important to preface that there is a freedom of choice involved, and it’s different than crowning the talents of a character not mentioned in this list will have a negative impact. You’re bound to see the rewards of your talent level-ups regardless.

1. Ganyu’s Normal Attack (Liutian Archery)

It’s no surprise to see Ganyu on this list – after all, she is a force to be reckoned with. As a master of the Cryo element, she is an archer with an exceptional sense of target acquisition.

Her standard normal attack can combo up to six consecutive shots, with each dealing considerable physical damage to enemies.

NOW READ: How to Get to Inazuma In Genshin Impact

Furthermore, charging the attack, instead of firing rapid arrows, executes a more precise shot that naturally deals more damage. The interesting part is that the shot generates different effects based on how long Ganyu charges the attack (progressing through two levels of charge).

Charge Level 1 shoots an icy arrow that deals Cryo damage, while Charge Level 2 shoots a Frostflake arrow that blooms upon impact, inflicting Cryo damage over a certain area. Charge Level 2, in particular, makes Ganyu’s normal attack so formidable, which is why DPS mains relying on her must crown this talent no matter what. Statistically, it yields a 6% gain from level 9 to 10, totaling around an increase of 400% from the base level.

2. Ayaka’s Elemental Burst (Kamisato Art: Soumetsu)

Ayaka is widely considered to be Ganyu’s sword counterpart. Even though both come from different backgrounds, with Ayaka being the daughter of the Yashiro Commission’s Kamisato Clan, she is just as well-versed in the arts of Cryo.

Upon activating her Elemental Burst, Ayaka unleashes what she calls a Frostflake Seki no To, a vortex of icicles that inflict Cryo damage repeatedly to anyone who gets caught in it. Moreover, once the vortex expires, a burst of frost ensues that also inflicts Cryo damage over a certain area.

NOW READ: What is Elemental Mastery and How to Increase it in Genshin Impact

Ayaka’s Elemental Burst is the strongest talent in her arsenal, which is why DPS mains including her in their composition must crown it. It almost yields a 6% gain from levels 9 to 10, totaling a boost of over 200% from the base level.

3. Hu Tao’s Elemental Burst (Spirit Soother)

Hu Tao is a master of manipulating the Pyro element and is widely known for being a very versatile character. While this accounts for the different builds that are viable for her, the Nuke build is regarded as the most prevalent of them all. With that said, if you’re someone who’s planning on running such a build, then you must crown her Elemental Burst talent.

Upon activation, Hu Tao calls upon a very innocent-looking ghost that charges toward enemies before exploding to inflict massive Pyro AoE damage. Furthermore, if any enemy is caught up in this explosion’s blast radius, Hu Tao recovers a percentage of her maximum HP. While this percentage increases with the talent level, the number of enemies caught up in the explosion boosts it as well (with a cap of five enemies).

Crowning Hu Tao’s Elemental Burst yields a 5% increase from level 9 to 10, reaching almost 200,000 points of damage.

4. Xiao’s Normal Attack (Whirlwind Thrust)

Known for being the “Conqueror of Demons” across Treyvat, Xiao is one of the more powerful Adepti encountered in the game. As far as his moveset goes, he is best known for his ferocious plunge attacks that surprisingly tank any sort of fall damage. So you can plunge from insane heights and not take an ounce of damage!

NOW READ: How To Get Philanemo Mushroom in Genshin Impact

Xiao’s normal attack (known as Whirlwind Thrust) takes three different shapes. The first is the standard combo that can go up to six hits if the input is administered repeatedly. Aside from that, if you were to charge up his normal attack, Xiao would consume a little bit of stamina to execute a knockback-inflicting uppercut. Lastly, the move that benefits the most from crowning Xiao’s Spirit Soother talent is his plunging attack.

Crowning Spirit Soother almost yields an 8% increase in damage from level 9 to level 10, reaching almost 40,000 points of damage.

5. Yoimiya’s Normal Attack (Firework Flare-Up)

The fireworks of Inazuma are the work of but one person, Yoimiya, and it is no surprise that her expertise ties into her moveset. It is often said that in the realm of DPS characters, there is no one that has a flair for fighting in such an unorthodox way quite like her.

NOW READ: 7 Best Weapons For Kaeya In Genshin Impact (2023)

Yoimiya’s normal attack, Firework Flare-Up has three levels to it, the first naturally being the standard combo of shots fired from her bow – the combo can be extended to five consecutive hits at maximum. Furthermore, if you were to hold the input button, Yoimiya would charge up her bow, where the charge would progress through two different levels.

At the first level, she will fire a flaming arrow that deals Pyro damage; at the second and highest level, the bow spawns three kindling arrows that fire off simultaneously, homing in on nearby enemies and doing AoE Pyro Damage. This move, in particular, benefits the most from crowning this talent, experiencing a 6% gain and reaching around 25,000 damage points.

6. Eula’s Elemental Burst (Glacial Illumination)

Although the progeny of a very tyrannical clan, Eula is widely revered as the Captain of the Reconnaissance Company, who has cut ties with her dark past. Much like Ganyu, if not better, she is a master of utilizing Cryo magic with her skills in swordsmanship, ultimately coming off as a formidable foe.

NOW READ: How To Complete Across The Wilderness Event In Genshin Impact

Eula’s Elemental Burst, Glacial Illumination, is a force to be reckoned with. Upon activation, it may only seem like she draws a greatsword and swings it; one must not miss out on the Lightfall Sword that spawns afterward. The Lightfall Sword increases Eula’s poise and damage output, eventually exploding when expiring after seven seconds, causing AoE Cryo damage.

NOW READ: Genshin Impact: Diona Build Guide (2023)

Eula’s Elemental Burst makes her a great DPS character to swap into the battle for nuking the enemy, just like Hu Tao. Furthermore, crowning this talent leads to roughly a 7.6% increase in damage from level 9 to 10, overall doing 2500% more damage than with its base form.

7. Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst (Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu)

As we move towards Support characters, Raiden Shogun serves as the perfect interlude between the two. Although she is formally considered a DPS character, her talents also express some support-based characteristics, particularly her Eye of Stormy Judgement. She is the first character on this list who is not only a master of the Electro element but also the wielder of a polearm.

NOW READ: How to Beat the Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact

Upon activating her Elemental Burst, Raiden will consume the Chakra Desiderata’s Resolve stacked up by her party (using elemental skills and bursts) to unleash the Musou Isshin: a powerful weapon infused with Electro. With such a buff, one can expect all of her normal attacks to do increased Electro damage, particularly her charged normal attack.

NOW READ: How To Get Crown Of Insight And Effects In Genshin Impact

Raiden’s charged normal attack allows her to consume some stamina to execute an upward slash, a technique that experiences the most significant buff with Musou Isshin in hand. As such, upgrading this talent approximately yields 6% in her buffed charge attack, summing up to a net 700% increase from its base level.

8. Bennett’s Elemental Burst (Fantastic Voyage)

Although it is best to crown DPS talents first and foremost, if you’re more interested in supporting talents, then Bennett’s Elemental Burst is a must-crown. Being one of the most cost-effective support characters in the game, Bennett stands quite on par with five-star support characters despite being of four-star rarity himself.

Although Bennett’s Elemental Burst (Fantastic Voyage) comes off as an offensive talent embodying a Pyro-infused jumping attack, the “Inspiration Field” he leaves behind is where the real magic happens. On top of imbuing any character inside it with Pyro, it passively regenerates the health of any character below three-fourths of their HP and gives damage buffs to anyone beyond it.

9. Xiangling’s Elemental Burst (Pyronado)

Given how Xiangling is known for her cooking skill across Liyue, it is no surprise to see her as one of the most commonly used support characters in Genshin Impact. As a character who’s constantly gaining access to new synergies and strategies, she is held in high regard as far as the meta goes for Sub-DPS characters.

NOW READ: How to Get Wishes in Genshin Impact

Xiangling’s Elemental Burst, Pyronado, unleashes a vortex of fire through the motion of her polearm. This vortex follows around your character for the next 18 seconds, meaning you don’t even need to have Xiangling on the field. Of course, enemies caught up in the vortex’s hitbox will consistently take damage, making it a great Sub-DPS Talent.

With that said, crowning Pyronado yields an exact 6.25% increase from level 12 to 13, which, although it is the same as crowning Xiangling’s Elemental Skill, should still be prioritized because of how much it has to offer.

10. Xingqiu Elemental Burst (Guhua Sword: Raincutter)

Xingqiu is the first hydro character on this list whose swordsmanship is remarkable, although not on par with most five-star sword characters, thus qualifying as a Sub-DPS character. In that regard, the star of his kit is his Elemental Burst, Guhua Sword: Raincutter, which is excellent for off-field damage and plays an instrumental role in setting up hydro reactions for the team.

NOW READ: What is Elemental Mastery and How to Increase it in Genshin Impact

Once he triggers his burst, Xingqiu spawns several unbreakable rain swords that, for the next 15 seconds, strike the enemy for every normal attack performed by the character on the field. Yes, as per the definition of a Sub-DPS talent, this means that Xingqiu does not need to be on the field to capitalize off the rain swords. Since these swords inflict hydro damage, they can be cleverly paired with Cryo magic to maximize elemental reactions.

11. Albedo Elemental Skill (Abiogenesis: Solar Insotoma)

Some of you may be wondering why Albedo has been listed instead of the mighty Zhongli. Despite both being Geo support characters, crowning Zhongli’s shields will give less of a return on your investment than Alebdo’s elemental skill (from a support perspective). Having the two in the same team is also not a good idea as it is redundant, and only one Geo construct can exist simultaneously.

NOW READ: 17 Best Weapons To Forge In Genshin Impact

Once Albedo’s elemental skill is triggered, a Solar Insotoma materializes on the battlefield, at which point you can swap out Albedo for your DPS character. For the next 18 seconds, the construct will pulse every 2 seconds, generating Transient Blossoms that deal AoE Geo damage. Since Geo has good synergy with elements like Pyro as far as elemental reactions go, Yoimiya would be a good DPS character to have.

12. Nahida’s Elemental Skill (All Schemes to Know)

Nahida is a relatively new character that has risen in the meta of Support characters. Not only is she a walking paradox, possessing true wisdom in the absence of lived experience, but Nahida is also one of the first few playable Dendro characters released recently. Her Sub-DPS talent makes her stand out, which makes it incredibly easy to capitalize off elemental reactions at a much larger scale.

NOW READ: Best Nahida Team Compositions Guide (2023)

Nahida’s Elemental Skill can be used in two ways, where both ultimately tag a certain amount of enemies with the Seed of Skandha. Holding the input button enters Nahida into aiming mode, where she can pan across the screen for a short duration to mark as many enemies as possible with the Seed of Skandha. Simply giving the input causes her to cast dendral bombs that not only do AoE damage but can also tag up to eight enemies with the Seed of Skandha.

NOW READ: 7 Best Weapons For Nahida In Genshin Impact (2023)

Enemies marked with the Seed of Skandha will form a connection, where executing an elemental reaction on even one of them will cause a domino effect that will spread to everyone else marked as well. This is followed by Nahida’s own attack, Tri-Karma Purification, that compliments the chain reaction even further, making the Elemental Skill quite overpowered.

13. Fischl’s Elemental Skill (Nightrider)

As we near the end of the list, it is important to touch upon the Electro potential of support characters. Although Electro support characters are generally less popular due to their DPS ceiling that’s lower than most other elements, Fischl is, nonetheless, good for the earlier stages of the game. She excels in that kind of combat scenario where only one beefy enemy engages with you.

NOW READ: 17 Best Weapons To Forge In Genshin Impact

Fischl’s Elemental Skill, Nightrider, has good synergy with elements like Geo or Anemo. Upon activation, Fischl summons Oz, a bird-like Electro companion that ravages through your enemies. Of course, Fischl can be swapped out after triggering the skill, and Oz will continue rampaging for the remainder of his duration, generating a copious amount of energy for recharge.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, compositions in Genshin Impact comprise both DPS and Support characters. As such, it is important to put together DPS characters that can hold their own in combat and have great elemental reactions with the Sub-DPS talents of your support characters. Ultimately, if such a composition is made, crowning the strongest talents of each character, such as the ones listed in this guide, will take your team to new heights!
