If you’re still on the fence about the game, why not take a look at our guides to the Baldur’s Gate 3 races, or the different Baldur’s Gate 3 companions, to learn a little more about what to expect?
Will Baldur’s Gate 3 be on Xbox consoles?
Yes, Baldur’s Gate 3 will be coming to Xbox consoles in 2023. Game director Swen Vincke confirmed that the D&D-inspired RPG will be arriving on Microsoft gaming systems this year after a productive meeting with Xbox head Phil Spencer. Vincke also revealed that Series X will have split-screen co-op functionality but the less powerful Series S will not. Fortunately, both platforms will “include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.”
The studio previously confirmed that an Xbox version of the game was in development, but that it will “release when it’s ready.” This indicated that Xbox fans might have had to wait a while as Larian Studios had given no previous indication that it would be released on the Microsoft console in the near future.
We can also speculate based on what we know about BG3 on PS5 that the game will most likely be coming to Xbox Series X/S, but not necessarily Xbox One. It’s also currently unclear if the game might make an appearance on Game Pass at a later date.

Given the recent news regarding changes to the Baldur’s Gate 3 release date originally set for mid August, it seems additionally likely that the Xbox launches will come some time after the PS5 release. Technical issues resulted in a gap between the release dates for PC and PS5. It seems fair to speculate then that a similar gap may exist between the PS5 and the Xbox version of BG3. If that does end up being the case, we might expect an Xbox port to arrive near the start of October at the earliest.
That covers everything we know so far about BG3 on Xbox. We’ll be sure to update you as we learn more.
