Baldur’s Gate 3 Legendary item locations

Here’s a detailed list of all the Legendary items in BG3 and how to get them.

Blood of Lathander

Here are the effects of the Blood of Lathander:

  • Item Type: Mace
  • Damage – 1d6 +3 bludgeoning
  • Lathander’s Blessing – One per long rest, if your HP reaches zero, you restore 2-12 HP; nearby allies also regain 1-6 hit points (HP).
  • Lathander’s Light – Sheds holy light in a six-meter radius; fiends and undead within the radius are blinded unless they succeed in a Constitution saving throw.
  • +3 weapon enchantment
  • Spell: Sunbeam

And here’s where you can find the Blood of Lathander mace in BG3:

  • You can find this item in the Githyanki Creche. You should get to the Rosymorn Monastery by heading to the Mountain Pass.
  • Here, click on a plaque right below a statue of Lathander. Then head up the stairs until you find a room with four tables with two blue gems on them.
  • Solve a puzzle in this secret room to obtain the Dawnmaster’s Crest. 
  • It involves finding four weapons scattered across the area: Ceremonial Battleaxe, Longsword, Ceremonial Warhammer, and Rusty Mace. These need to placed in the same order on the remaining tables. 
  • This is needed to obtain the Blood of Lathander mace without risking the Creche Y’llek.
  • Next, you’ll need to pickpocket Captain Kith’rak Therezzyn to get a Gith Shard that will be used to dispel a barrier later on.
  • Later, the campaign will leave you in an area with chests and two identical statues. Turn the one on the left to the West and the other one to the entrance. This opens a secret door ot the Daybreak Gate.
  • Clear the next yellow barrier by shooting the blue crystals. Clear the next couple of rooms until you reach the Blood of Lathander mace.

Shar’s Spear of Evening

Here are the effects of Shar’s Spear of Evening:

  • Item Type: Spear
  • Damage – 1d8 + 4 piercing + 1d6 piercing
  • Shar’s Blessing – Gain advantage on saving throws while lightly or heavily obscured. Deal additional 1d6 damage to creatures that are lightly or heavily obscured.
  • Blind Immunity – The wielder cannot be blinded.
  • +3 weapon enchantment
  • Spell: Shar’s Darkness

And here’s where you can find Shar’s Spear of Evening in BG3:

  • Enter the Nightsong’s Prison in the Gauntlet of Shar with Shadowheart.
  • Defeat Balthazar and talk to Nightsong.
  • Encourage Shadowheart to kill her and you’ll get Shar’s Spear of Evening.

Selune’s Spear of Night

Here are the effects of Selune’s Spear of Night:

  • Item Type: Spear
  • Damage – 1d8 (1d6) + 5 piercing
  • Selune’s Blessing – Gain advantage on Wisdom saving throws and Perception checks.
  • Darkvision – Can see in the dark up to 12 meters.
  • +3 weapon enchantment
  • Spells: Moonbeam and Moonmote

And here’s where you can find Selune’s Spear of Night:

  • Enter the Nightsong’s Prison in the Gauntlet of Shar with Shadowheart.
  • Defeat Balthazar and talk to Nightsong
  • Instead of asking Shadowheart to kill Nightsong, clear a skill check to ask her to spare Nightsong.
  • Shadowheart throws the Spear of Night away and Nightsong transforms into a winged aasimar.
  • Rescue Nightsong again from Ketheric Thorm. Then, in Act 3, she tells you about Shadowheart’s past. And then she hands the old spear over, now blessed by Selune.

Nyrulna

Here are the effects of Nyrulna in BG3:

  • Item Type: Trident
  • Damage – 1d8 (1d6) +3 piercing
  • Zephyr Connection – The weapon returns to your hand when thrown; cannot be forced to drop this via disarming; when thrown, create an explosion that deals 3-12 thunder damage.
  • Veil of the Wind – Gain a three-meter bonus to movement speed and jump distance; which makes you immune to fall damage.
  • Nyrulna Glowing – Shines with a glowing light in a six-meter radius.
  • +3 weapon enchantment

And here’s where to get Nyrulna:

  • Get to the Circus of the Last Days and pickpocket Akabi’s magic ring.
  • He’ll know you stole it the price so Akabi will teleport you to a small area with dinosaurs.
  • At the end of the path, you’ll find a chest with the Legendary item Nyrulna.

Crimson Mischief

Here are the noted effects of the Crimson Mischief in BG3:

  • Item Type: Shortsword
  • Damage – 1d8+7 piercing, +1d4 necrotic, +1d4 piercing
  • Prey Upon the Weak – Deals +1-4 piercing damage against targets with less than 50% HP.
  • Redvein Savagery – As a main hand weapon, make an attack with advantage to inflict an additional 7 piercing damage against your target.
  • Crimson Weapon – As an off-hand weapon, make an attack to add your ability modifier to the damage roll.
  • +2 weapon enchantment

And here’s where you can get the Crimson Mischief:

  • Head to the Lower City Sewers in Baldur’s Gate.
  • Then head through the Undercity Ruins to the Temple of Bhaal where you’ll find Orin the Red.
  • Defeat her and loot the Crimson Mischief Legendary item from her corpse.

Bloodthirst

Here are the effects offered by the Bloodthirst weapon:

  • Item Type: Dagger
  • Damage – 1d8+2 piercing
  • Improved Critical – The number you need to roll to do a critical is reduced by 1; can stack with other similar effects.
  • Exploit Weakness – As a main hand weapon, enemies hit with this receive vulnerability to piercing damage.
  • True Strike Riposte – As an off-hand weapon, enemies that miss you with a melee strike allow you to counter to gain True Strike; gain +1 AC.
  • +2 weapon enchantment
  • Cantrip: True Strike
  • Feature: Bound Weapon

And here’s where you can obtain the Bloodthirst in BG3:

  • Just like the previous Legendary item, defeat Orin the Red.
  • Loot her corpse for this Baldur’s Gate 3 Legendary item.

Orphic Hammer

Here are the effects offered by the Orphic Hammer:

  • Item Type: Warhammer
  • Damage – 1d10 (1d8) + 3 bludgeoning
  • Spell Resistance – Advantage of saving throws against spells.
  • +3 weapon enchantment
  • Class Action: Unshackling Strike

And here’s where you can expect to find the Orphic Hammer in BG3:

  • Agree to Raphael’s proposal or steal it in the House of Hope.
  • This is an important quest item as it’s the only weapon that can free Hope and Orpheus.

Balduran’s Giantslayer

Here are the unique effects of the Balduran’s Giantslayer:

  • Item Type: Greatsword
  • Damage – 2d6+3 slashing
  • Giantslayer – On hit, double the damage from your Strength modifier; gain advantage on attack rolls against large, huge, or gargantuan creatures.
  • +3 weapon enchantment
  • Class Action: Giant Form

And here’s how to obtain the Balduran’s Giantslayer in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • Save Duke Ravengard and escape the underwater prison.
  • You’ll then learn of a hidden lair in the city. Head there and beat its trials.
  • Slay the enraged dragon Ansur and loot the Legendary weapon off this best. The Balduran’s Giantslayer is now yours.

Helm of Balduran

Here are the effects of the Helm of Balduran:

  • Item Type: Helmet (Medium Armour)
  • Balduran’s Vitality – Heals you for +2 HP at the beginning of your turn.
  • Balduran’s Favor – +1 bonus to AC and saving throws.
  • Stun Immunity – The wearer cannot be stunned.
  • Attackers cannot land critical hits on the wearer.

And here’s how to get the Helm of Balduran in BG3:

  • Just like the previous weapon, you need to beat Ansur the dragon. 
  • The altar at the back will have this Legendary item.

Gontr Mael

Here are the effects offered by the Gontr Mael in BG3:

  • Item Type: Bow
  • Damage – 1d8+8 piercing
  • Promised Victory – Chance to inflict Guiding Bolt on your target.
  • Gontr Mael Glowing – Has a glowing light with a radius of six meters.
  • +3 weapon enchantment
  • Spell: Celestial Haste

And here’s where to find Gontr Mael:

  • Enter the Steel Watch Foundry in Baldur’s Gate. It’s in the southwestern portion of the Lower City.
  • Seek help from a Gondian NPC. Once you get to the inner recesses, defeat the Steel Watcher Titan.
  • Loot this body before blowing up the facility to get the Gontr Mael bow.

Viconia’s Walking Fortress

Here are the effects of Viconia’s Walking Fortress:

  • Item Type: Shield
  • Armour Class – +3
  • Rebuke of the Mighty – When hit with a melee attack, use a reaction to deal 2-8 force damage to your foe, knocking them prone unless they succeed in a Dexterity saving throw.
  • Spellguard – Gain an advantage on saving throws against spells; spell attack rolls against you have a disadvantage.
  • Spells: Reflective Shell and Warding Bond.

And here’s where to get Viconia’s Walking Fortress in BG3:

  • Progress through Shadowheart’s companion story.
  • You’ll eventually reach the House of Grief in the Lower City.
  • Defeat Viconia DeVir. You can loot the Legendary shield from her corpse.

Helldusk Armour

Here are the powerful effects of the Helldusk Armour in BG3:

  • Item Type: Chestpiece (Heavy Armour)
  • +21 armor class
  • Helldusk Armor – The wearer is automatically proficient with this armor.
  • Infernal Retribution – When you succeed in a saving throw, the caster is afflicted with burning for three turns.
  • Prime Aegis of Fire – Resistance to fire damage; cannot be burned; take 3 less damage from all sources.
  • Spell: Fly

And here’s how to get the Helldusk Armour:

  • Defeat Raphael in the House of Hope.
  • He’s a powerful opponent with 666 HP.

Gloves of Soul Catching

Here are the effects of the Gloves of Soul Catching:

  • Item Type: Gloves
  • Soul Fist – Unarmed melee attacks deal +1-10 force damage.
  • Soul Catching – Once per turn on an unarmed hit, restore 10 HP; you may also forego the healing to gain advantage on attack rolls and saving throws until the end of your turn.
  • +2 Constitution (up to 20 cap).

And here’s how to get the Gloves of Soul Catching in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • Free Hope from her prison by using the Orphic Hammer.
  • Then defeat Raphael to obtain this Legendary item. The Gloves of Soul Catching are a great match for the Monk class.

Markoheshkir

Here are the effects of Markoheshkir in BG3:

  • Item Type: Quarterstaff
  • Damage – 1d8 (1d6) + 1 bludgeoning
  • Arcane Enchantment – +1 bonus to spell save DC and spell attack rolls.
  • Arcane Battery – The next spell you cast doesn’t cost a spell slot.
  • +2 weapon enchantment
  • Spells: Kereska’s Favor

And here’s where you can find the Markoheshkir:

  • Continue with Nightsong’s story arc in Act 2. 
  • Head to Sorcerous Sundries and then Ramazith’s Tower, where Lorroakan resides. Either hand Nightsong over to this corrupt wizard or help him get his prize.
  • Fly or jump to the lower section and deactivate the arcane barrier.
  • You’ll then be able to get the Markoheshkir Legendary item.

The Red Knight’s Final Stratagem

Here are the effects of The Red Knight’s Final Stratagem:

  • Item Type: Book
  • Spell: Curriculum of Strategy – Artistry of War (Level 5 Evocation) – 18-78 force damage as you summon six spectral strategists and pick their targets.

And here’s how to get The Red Knight’s Final Stratagem in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • After getting the Markoheshkir weapon, press the “Vault” button.
  • You’ll find this Legendary item in a display case. Read the book for a powerful spell.

The Annals of Karsus

Here are the effects of The Annals of Karsus:

  • Item Type: Book
  • Spell: Dethrone (Level 5 Necromancy) – 30-80 Necrotic damage

And here’s where you can get The Annals of Karsus in BG3:

  • This one’s right past the previous Legendary item. Head to a door labelled Ramazith.
  • Lockpick it and then head to the Silverhand door and then the Evocation door without stepping into traps.
  • Turn around and head through the Silver Door to find a lever. On pulling this lever, the Karsus Vault in the original room will be unlocked.
  • Read the book inside to gain this Legendary item in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The Tharciate Codex

Here are the effects of The Tharciate Codex in BG3:

  • Item type: Book
  • Condition: Tharciate Withering and then Tharciate Vigor

Mask of the Shapeshifter

Here are the effects of the Mask of the Shapeshifter:

  • Item type: Helmet
  • Lets you use the Shapeshift spell once per Long Rest.

Here’s how to get the Mask of the Shapeshifter in BG3:

  • Purchase the Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3. 
  • You can then find it in the Traveler’s Chest in your camp.

Devotee’s Mace

Here are the effects of the Devotee’s Mace:

  • Item Type: Mace
  • Damage – 1d6+2 bludgeoning and +1d8 radiant
  • +3 Weapon Enhancement
  • Healing Increase Aura – Regenerate 1-4 HP at the start of your turn; lasts 10 turns; requires a long rest to be recast.

Here’s how to get the Devotee’s Mace in BG3:

  • As a level 10 Cleric, cast Divine Intervention and pick Arm Thy Faithful.
  • Note that you can only use this spell once in the entire campaign. But you can use the weapon in future battles, even with different characters.
  • Consider using one of Baldur’s Gate 3 hirelings for this instead of Shadowheart.

Duellist’s Prerogative

Here are the effects of the Duellist’s Prerogative:

  • Item Type: Rapier
  • Damage – 1d8+8 piercing, +2 piercing.
  • Elegant Duellist – If you don’t have an off-hand item equipped, you score critical hits whenever you roll a 19; gain an additional reaction per turn.
  • Withering Cut – On a hit with a melee weapon, use a reaction to deal additional necrotic damage.
  • +3 weapon enchantment
  • Spells: Challenge to Duel
  • Weapon Action: Dueller’s Enthusiasm

And here’s how to get the Duellist’s Prerogative in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • This continues the Baldur’s Gate 3 Save Mayrina quest involving Auntie Ethel from Act 1.
  • Head to The Blushing Mermaid in Baldur’s Gate in Act 3 and you’ll be tasked with finding a kid named Vanra.
  • You’ll discover that she’s been taken by Auntie Ethel. Once you find Mayrina, she’ll brew you a potion to get the kid away from the old hag.
  • Return Vanra to her mom to receive this Legendary rapier in BG3.

Silver Sword of the Astral Plane

Here are the effects of the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane in BG3:

  • Item type – Sword
  • Damage – 2d6+6 Slashing damage and 1d6 Psychic damage if wielder is Githyanki
  • Advantage on Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma Saving Throws.
  • Resistance to Psychic damage.
  • Unable to be Charmed.

And here’s how to obtain the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane:

  • Obtain the Orphic Hammer. Then refrain from killing Kith’rak Voss.
  • He’ll appear at your camp at night so spare him.
  • Look for Voss in Sharess’ Caress and show him the Orphic Hammer.
  • You’ll get the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane as a reward.
