Sony has formally announced its new handheld, so we’re breaking down the PlayStation Portal pre order details.
In what will be the company’s first appearance in the handheld gaming market since PS Vita, the PlayStation Portal releases this year, as confirmed by Sony. With a pre order period also confirmed, we’re expecting demand to be high, as people jostle to reserve the $199.99 / £199.99 cloud gaming device.
It’s been a busy year for PlayStation if we’re looking at releases. There’s been the release of its first-ever pro controller, the DualSense Edge and the second generation of its PS VR headset in January and February alone. Alongside the PlayStation Portal’s reveal, Sony has also announced a wireless headset and earbuds, which would obviously pair perfectly with the PlayStation Portal.
It’s all very exciting, so let us guide you through everything we know about pre-ordering the PlayStation Portal guide.
PlayStation Portal pre order details
The PlayStation Portal pre order details will be announced in the coming weeks, very likely in time for its release which could be around the Black Friday / Christmas period. Sony itself says the details will be revealed “soon”.
We can take a look back at previous launches to get a rough idea of how long the pre order period will be for the PlayStation Portal. The DualSense Edge had a pre order period of up to four months from October until January. If the PlayStation Portal follows a similar trajectory, we might see pre orders go live from September. This is all just speculation though.
How to pre order PlayStation Portal
The PlayStation Portal will be available to pre order from PlayStation Direct, and potentially from other online retailers, though this hasn’t been confirmed. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any news on this.
That’s all there is to say on the PlayStation pre order for now. Check back here in the coming weeks where there’ll hopefully be news!
