This year we predicted that Boston Celtics Jayson Tatum would hold the crown as the best overall rated small forward in NBA 2K24. Tatum has continuously defied expectations each season with remarkable play, and his career high 30.1 points per game is something he could very well match or surpass over the 2023-24 campaign.
But the King himself is back in that number one spot once more with a 96 overall. Last year LeBron James was also a 96 overall. But even with his age and gradual diminish in talent, the NBA legend still earned a 96 overall rating and understandably so. Miami Heat Eastern Conference Finals MVP Award winner, Jimmy Butler, will probably be the final 90 Club member from the small forwards, with NBA 2K24 granting him a stellar 95 overall rating.
On that very note, here’s a look at five of our Top 10 small forward predictions and why we think they should be on the list this year in NBA 2K24.
LeBron James – 96 overall
LeBron James had himself one special 2022-23 campaign. Aside from scoring 28.9 points per game in 55 games played, LeBron James also became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 career points record earlier in February. Despite not having the best odds to make past the play-in round of the playoffs, LeBron and his Lakers were able to defy the odds, making it all the way to the Western Conference Finals where they would come up short to the Denver Nuggets. The man is simply one of the greatest of all time, and despite the fact that he will be 39 later in December, still earned himself a position best 96 overall rating.
Jayson Tatum – 95 overall
Over his young six-year career so far, Tatum has simply transformed into a NBA superstar. From scoring, rebounding, passing the rock, and playing hard on defense, Tatum is as versatile and imposing of a small forward as any other in this league. The Celtics have been able to make the Eastern Conference Finals in the last seasons, which is no coincidence. Tatum is that good of a superstar, and after dropping a career high 30.1 points per game last season, his 95 overall rating is without a doubt well-earned honor.
Jimmy Butler – 95 overall
The Miami Heat made for quite the story in the playoffs, and a major reason why was because of their small forward star, Jimmy Butler. Throughout the regular season, Butler was Miami’s most consistent playmaker and scorer, posting 22.9 points per game on a career high 53.9% shooting from the field to go with 5.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.8 steals (second in the NBA). Come the playoffs, Butler’s strong play took off to a whole new level, as he helped lead Miami to their first Finals appearance since 2020. Though he’s by no means the flashiest of scorers on a regular basis, Butler is simply one of the best two-way small forwards in the game. And as a result, Butler will be a 95 overall in NBA 2K24.
Kawhi Leonard – 89 overall
Some of you reading this might find this new rating for Leonard to be a bit harsh. But since he sustained a torn ACL roughly two years ago in the 2021 NBA playoffs, Leonard has really struggled to get back to full health and produce the way he was in previous seasons for the Clippers. In just 52 games last season, Leonard scored 23.8 points per game to go with an average of 6.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists. And aside from doing really well in two playoff games earlier this year, it’s just hard to see Leonard cracking the 90 Club for NBA 2K24 later this Fall.
Brandon Ingram – 86 overall
Although its safe to say that Zion Williamson is the primary star of the New Orleans Pelicans, it goes without question that Brandon Ingram is one of the most important secondary stars on the team, and he has continued to prove that to everyone over these last two seasons. Despite playing a career low 45 games over the 2022-23 campaign, Ingram still posted career highs in points per game (24.7) and assists (5.8). The Pelicans started off last season on quite the roll before injuries got the best of their squad. And a big reason why was due to Brandon Ingram’s excellent play.
